Isn't that what you are doing?
even games have rules, you don't like animation lock, too bad. go play something else.

not troll logic at all, the game has a specific set of rules. You don't like those rules, therefore you are demanding the rules be rewritten, in this case you are demanding the game be restored to easy mode, which the majority already screamed bloody murder at.
I wonder which of us is the troll here.

This is what I'm doing: Recommending that the rules be changed because the current rules foster bad gameplay and class imbalance. I point out the flaws, and propose changes that would fix those flaws.

and they are a path to easy mode, where no strategy is involved. No matter how you try to sugar it, your changes would make things even worse.

Don't confuse bad game mechanics with strategic gameplay.
Removing animation lock would allow players to make critical split-second decisions. I find that more challenging than having to plan on being frozen in place.
I bet you hated when they removed the animation lock from switching between passive/active mode? Boy, that really gimped my gameplay and turned it into easy mode. </sarcasm>

With the lock, you are forced to actually pay attention to what's going on around you, it also means you cannot spam damage without consequence. In Ifrit's case you can predict when he'll use a TP move, or when he will cast hellfire, it also ensures that zerg strategies will always fail. If there was no animation lock, players would be able to dodge every major attack an enemy threw at them with a nearly 100% success rate, it is no longer a question of skill. In short, Easy mode.Don't confuse bad game mechanics with strategic gameplay.

edit: animation lock has been in the game from the beginning, if the devs had this planned from the beginning, then it is not bad game mechanics, as it was intended to be that way.
Then again, why am I explaining this to a lv 25 cnj who has probably never done a dungeon run, stronghold, or fought the hard Ifrit fight?

and what about typical FF Style melee animations? like polearm animations, which i think are amazing...Don't confuse bad game mechanics with strategic gameplay.

would really look silly to perform these styles while running..
i always hear "make that instant, make that instant... reduce the animation time" .... cut down everything or what???!! that sucks really.
if you want to play a typical MMO chose SWTOR or WoW.
WoW doesn't have animation lock and their content is not easy mode. If you think it is, then I'm guessing you never did hardmode raiding when it was considered progression.
