I've been having this same exact issue for quite some time as well and only with FFXIV too for me as well and same with trying outer controllers i started out with wireless ps4 controller tried wired xbox controller and now im using an xbox one because several people had told me it might be a compatibility issue with ps4 controllers on windows but that doesnt seem to be the case because again works fine with all other games literally every single other steam game thats in my library works just fine, but FFXIV nope I got kicked from a Sophia group the other day as a result of the issue because i walked right off the ledge before i regained control of my character I don't have a solution i just wanted to let you know your not alone, i might actually try putting in a support ticket for it because idk what else to do

Can you keep Computer Management > Devices open and when it becomes unresponsive, have a quick look to see if the controller disconnected and reconnected (it should refresh the device section).
I'm just now finally able to play again after a very busy work-weekend, So I'll log in now to see if that's a issue.
Is there anything I need to look out for aside from the blinking? (as in, is there a certain thing i need to look out for? )

Thank you nevertheless for the pointers in the right direction, Reading this did make me realize that sometimes my controller has 2 issues at a certain point, but these only (sadly) occur during playing FFXIV
*Either the Controller "loses" it's connection from P1 and after a brief moment shifts to the P2 slot
*Or it switches from P1 to a entire green ring in the middle of my controller and takes a long time to reconnect at all.

I'll open up the device manager during the time i play (although I'll have about a hour left to play before I really need to hit the fleabunk)
I'll keep everyone posted in here!

All kidding aside, I found an old forum thread that might help you get closer to finding a solution. Scroll down to the final post in this thread:

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...109625/?page=9

    Good luck!
Hahaha, I knew it'd be posted at some point!

Indeed, that's a forum thread I've read in it's entirety to look for solutions, which someone was on a crusade to fix said issues.
I did took a look at the last post of that thread, but as an atechnical person, I have only slight Idea's of what he's talking about O-o'

And I think it's also in synch with what snat posted above?

I'll keep my controller Disconnectivity status updated here; pray it gives some sort of software-feedback!

Thanks for pointing the link out for those chasing the same solution!

That's the entire deal for me too, in my case I did use Xbox360 controllers which should be supported by Microsoft. (I even have, by excessive amounts of googling, found a way to look if i had the most up to date drivers ((once again, i really, really lack technical knowledge))

But both mine and my sis's controller both have the same connectivity issues.
Nor does this issue happen at any other game which basically leads me to believe it is truly something related to FFXIV's software, but I wonder what changed from the 3.4 patches to the 3.5 patches as that's the moment things started to get awry for me.

But right now I'm sticking (gameplay wise) to either PotD, small dungeons with Guildmates or just crafting since I don't wanna be a bigger burden to alliances running raids than I already am xD

You just need to watch out if Device Manager refreshes. If it does it means the device is reconnecting and that there is something in FFXIV that is causing it to drop. My controller been doing the same in FFXIV and only in FFXIV.

I had this issue with a wired Xbox One controller on my girlfriend's laptop. Disabling "Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator" under Software Devices in Device Manager fixed it permanently. I'm not sure what other things may be affected by the Enumerator not running, but I haven't noticed any adverse effects. Disabling it only takes ~10 seconds if you know where to find the Device Manager in Windows, so it's worth a shot.

I'm having the same problems. I even went out and bought a brand new controller last night thinking my last controller was on the way out door. Exact same response on the new controller. Tried a few different games and everything else works fine. Hope there is a fix soon

Its worth saying in case any developers does read this - this does not fix the issue for me and nor does turning off sleep mode on USB devices and that the issue only happens within FFXIV.

I had device manager open, mine was steady while still experiencing the problem.

This didn't resolve the problem for me.

Yeah, I'm still having the same problem as well and I've tried everything in this thread.

I'm still scanning my list for the cause (device manager) but since my playtime is limited; things like that don't get resolved easily xD
