Please Change Grand Company Heroes Recognition

The current recognition is given out to players who earn the most seals in any particular day or week.

This method is broken since there are quests that give thousands of seals. Veterans who play and have already completed these high rewarding seal quests/leves will continuously be denied the opportunity to make it on the weekly list of heroes and earn that achievement.

This merit rewards should be based on the # of caravans, GC quests, and GC leves COMPLETED not based on total seals earned.

If a newbie player does one quest to get 5000 seals and that quest takes an hour and a veteran player whose already completed these quests and has to grind seals would need to grind for over 30 hours in that week to even contend for the weekly recognition...there is something quite broken there.

I "DO NOT" want seals earned from leves to be increased or decrease as I think that is at a pretty reasonable amount per leve/caravan.

I "DO" however strongly feel that daily and weekly heroes recognition should be based off number of caravan, quest, and leve completions for your respective GC. That shows true merit for your GC rather then via number of seals.

Cheers! Please Like if you think so too!!!

I actually got hero recognition the other day completely unexpectedly, and this was after I had already finished all the big quests. I'm pretty sure I got it just for doing one or two leves, so it seems like competition isn't really that stiff -- at least on my server in my particular Grand Company. However, I certainly see where you're coming from, and if the new player population grows it'll become a more pronounced issue. Overall I feel like the seal rewards for things other than the main GC quests are way too low; maybe if they were adjusted it would solve the issue, rather than needing to change the way recognition is calculated. I think at some point the dev team said they weren't considering upping rewards, and instead they were going to just add more ways to get seals, but even if we have more options for getting 30-40 seals at a time it'll still be a really tedious process. It's also way disproportionate to the amount we could gain through GC storyline quests, so that makes it seem even more frustrating to me. Seal rewards aside, if things stay the way they are, your proposed idea of counting activity rather than total seals would probably make more sense.

I got hero recognition in early November for about 4 company leves. I'm sure it was a quiet day, but it proves it's not impossible to get on the board.

And I'm sure that when I (finally) get around to doing the Darkhold (I was much to low level to try it before now), I'll be up there again with a big 4k bonus. But I'm only going to get that once, so it does balance out I think.

Right now, it's actually pretty fair if it's based on Seals, because it'll self balance itself out, whereas if its based around quests or securities, those who really want their names plastered on the website all the time can easy manipulate it. You could argue you can just make a new character, but if you really want to go through the initiation process every single week, more power to you.

In your example, Newbie gains 5k seals, becomes a recogonized member however he's still a fairly low level newbie and more than likely few friends/access to many areas versus...the veteran who can grab a few buddies and basically cement their names on the website the next week and following weeks after.

So in a way, it would go from unfair because newbie gains an auto 5k seals, to unfair because someone with more power and options to them being able to accumulate the appropriate seal amount needed constantly, so what I basically see is you dislike the fact someone new to the game can get recognized rather than someone who's done everything already. That way is more unfair than the current system which can actually balance itself out. It's like the Maat's Cap from FFXI, before they recognized people who got them legitimately because it was rare, then with the inclusion of Abyssea almost everyone has one so it no longer matters.

It's just a small spotlight, you're not getting millions of gil or anything for being on the website. So once they expand Grand Company stuff it'll balance out even more if its based on Seals gained.

So you think it's fair that someone who just started out gets to level 25 makes some 5000 seals in 1 week based on maybe 4 company quests that took mere hours to complete, than someone who is level 50 spent all week doing some 125+ GC leves and gets shafted for the title?

    Explain how that's fair?

It's quite fair actually, you're not being rated according to how much time you put in, you are being rated according to risk and importance of the mission. The gc quests that provide large amounts of seals are both hi-risk, and considered priorities for the war effort. supply runs are important, but they generally do not amount to anywhere the same level of risk, especially since you can generally purchase the requested materials.

It's a little like the Congressional Medal of Honor that way: You don't get it because you want it, you earn it because you did something that saved others, or turned the tide of a battle/war, usually at the cost of your own life.

There is more to being recognized on as Hero of your GC. If you make the WEEKLY achievement you'll soon get the in-game Title: Hero of "Grand Company".

I've made it on the daily one like 5x. That's not hard...no biggie there. It's the one that you get as a weekly is an actual in-game achievement posted to your history.

I've been on the hero list twice so far, and I think the system is fair as it is right now. You forgot one important thing: once you do the GC quests, you generally cannot repeat them. there will be people who get on the list because of those quests, but the majority of the time you will see people who are doing the supply/provisioning quests. Btw, the two times I got posted on the list, both were from doing gc leves/supply runs

Uni Neko...you've not made it on the weekly Hero's list nor do you have the achievement. I'm not talking about daily recognition that is easy cake. I've been on that 5x. It's the WEEKLY one. Sigh...do people really read what's posted?

nice, you criticize me for being on the list at all, just because I've been on the dailys, then completely ignore everything else I said. Perhaps you should take your own advice.
