Rehiring Retainer from 1.0?

I recently decided to get back into XIV from when I stopped playing right at the BETA test for A Realm Reborn. I wanted to transfer my character over so I can play on the same world as my girlfriend but I keep getting an error messaging saying I still need to rehire my retainer from 1.0. However there is no option, so I went to the website for SE to find a solution. Told me to just click hire. So I hired a new one, and all of my items turned up in it, but even after taking them all out Im still getting the message that I need to rehire my old retainer. I went ahead and fired the new one I made and still nothing. I have no idea what to do and from what I've read SE's help on this is poor, to say the least. Does anyone have any solutions that might help? Thanks!

I don't know what has gone wrong but you should have been able to just rehire your 1.0 retainer by speaking to a Retainer Vocate in the Market area of each city (the location of which is shown on the map with a two-faces icon) - you would have to create a new appearance for them though like creating a new retainer, and could choose a new name for them if you so desired, but all you had to do was speak to the Retainer Vocate to hire them. That was how I rehired my own 1.0 retainer when I first started ARR back in 2013.

Incidentally, 1.0 players can access the retainer system immediately from a retainer vocate and do not have to wait til the level 17 main scenario quest where Minfilia unlocks that ability for new players, you just have to rehire your 1.0 retainer.

don't know if you have worked out your problem but if you don't know you are able to have 2 retainers, so you may not have re-hired your 2nd retainer hope this help

I returned about a year ago now. Yes just follow the normal process of rehire your retainer. you then need to visit the calamity salvager 1 in each major city these will house key items like Chocobo licence and gooboo mount and other items so forth had the same issue you will have to re do every quest again though.

I spent 2 hours trying to find out why I could not re take the quest. Best bit of advice is to find a nice fc to ask question DO not vendor anything till you check current prices on the MB some of the items we used in 1.0 are worth quite a bit still.
