I would wait. It's free sure, but it'll only lead a bad taste in your mouth if you've been playing other games.

Although getting one class to 50 so you can jump right into the new content might be a sound investment seeing as how easy it is to get to 50.

I agree with Celtodeno. It depends on what you want in a game, and of course, how you play it. I have played off and on since beta and there is a big difference from start to current updates. I plan on helping support the future of FFXIV myself and play throughout.
If you want to get a taste of how the updates are making a difference, start now while it's free. SE is giving a little bit a time after 1.20 releases for players to decide if they want to stay or not (if I remember right, starts December, I'd have to re-read the info). That's my opinion anyway. I have enjoyed seeing the difference right away with each update. I'm the exploring the world type of person anyway.

You should just wait till 1.21 and level with jobs out and all that stuff.

Unless you really want to play this game already, I would recommend waiting until 2.0. There are so many good games out currently that would give you way more enjoyment.

Id like to try to get into a new MMO i have tried alot and i mean alot of mmo's out there, i feel left out not having one. The only real MMO that has ever really drawn me in was FFXI i played that from NA launch for 6 years. The only reason i quite was because of school. If FFXIV doesnt turn around soon I might go back to FFXI, the only reason i havent is cause im afraid of them discontinuing it, plus I dont wanna take all that time lv.lng all my jobs to 75 again. let alone lv.99 now <,< although i am graduating with my bachelors in 4 weeks so i should have more time. hopefully I wont spend all my time at work, school and sleeping

Thanks I am think I might start when 1.20 comes out, if i can hold out that long. Only reason is because i dont wanna get to high of a lv. (if that is possible) and miss some of the achivements i might of gotten if i would of waited and started when the achievements where already in place. eh.... idk if that makes any sense or not but thats what im thinking about doing lol. Also i think i remember the producer said that people that stay now until version 2.0 might get something special, he didnt say anything concrete but he was hinting that, that gobbue mount would be given away. Are they not doing that anymore?
you really care for a status symbol thats is nothing at all? the soon you start the better you still need skills from other classes & you need gil, you'll probly end up leveling everything anyways depsnding how the job system is.

Yes I do XD, although your right if it turns out to be like FFXI i will just end up lv.ling every job to max lv. I hope this is like FFXI where they will soon increase the lv. cap to 75 and than just put new content and stuff in the game and not mess with the lv. cap. I hate in WoW how they never really seem to ad much to the game they just increase the lv. cap, thus making all the lower lv. areas obsolete making them have to continually make new areas where as in FFXI they always kept 75 as max until the abyseea and made new content and stuff i really loved that

they are talking about cap raises every year or 2
there is debate over wether or not we will get an increase at the 1.21 marker at this point(its been talked about but nothing concrete or confirmed to be happening "yet")

also when they increase the cap dont expect big jumps like some games do, expect it 5-10 levels at a time
so we may see 55 this year(it wont be 60, yoshi has stated itl be a small raise)
next year maybe 60-65 and so on

this is a good thing though since if you dont raise the cap too much, you dont outdate the current content much either

a rank 50 boss at rank 55 isnt overly easy(its easier thats for sure but it doesnt make it auto win yet) where 60 would
making the 50 content easier content while the 55 content becomes the new hard stuff and so on
