    PoTD in a cross-world party?

Firstly, I must say I love the cross server party finder. It's great I can finally play with friends on other servers, I've waited for this for a long time.

But, why can you not do Palace of the Dead in a cross-world party? Is it because it has leaderboards or something? I was hoping to try for floor 200 with a friend from leviathan, but we can't because of this limitation. Will this be changed someday?

I believe it is because we have to go to Quarry Mill and talk to an NPC to enter and all party members must be present unlike with a DF dungeon. if they add PotD to DF in the future it will become an option for cross world PF I'm sure

It is not in the Duty Finder like other things are. You have to go to Quarrymill and talk to the NPC and party members have to be present to do that which is not possible cross server.

I don't see why they wouldn't just change it to being in quarrymill, rather than 'your quarrymill', though.

Guess it was too hard to code. But since PoTD is in party finder, it's odd you can't actually use party finder for it now.

You cna use Party Finder for it but Party Finder does not que you for the instance, let's say you are putting together a Party Finder group for Titan Extreme. You get your party filled with Party Finder you then have to use Duty Finder to que up your party to enter the instance. POTD is not in the Duty Finder to que up for it.

Hunts and Fates are also in PF but you obviously can't do those cross server.

The party finder was originally designed around only looking for people within your server rather than cross server. Also, you can set the PF to only advertise for your server (Seriously, I see so many FC recruits, runs sells and other things that can't be done cross server being advertised cross server), so you still can fully use it for PotD.

Hardest thing about it atm is the save function. I think the idea of having a cross-server save could be very taxing cause it's a lot of information to remember. If a person changes their name then the other saves would need that information as well, so there is this extra layer of information that is needed to be informed between servers which overtime could be rather stressful to the integrity of said servers.

That's why as it stands it's most likely better to figure out a smart way to do it rather than implement it with the high risk of instability since another thing to consider is a party of 4 all need to have their save and if one person on any of the servers deletes their save, then the run is lost. It's things like that that need to be worked out before they can consider the idea of making Deep Dungeon content cross-server.

I think they said they were going to work on it and it would be implemented later. "Content like PoTD & Diadem will be updated into the Party Finder sometime later. It won’t be available at launch of the new PF for cross-server play." That was from a translation of the 3.5 live letter part 1.

The raids used to be like this (You would go to the NPC to get in) but now they are queueable so I don't think it's out of the question.

PotD and Diadem are more special than the raids. For Diadem you have to pay an item, and for PotD there are those 2 save files and party lock.

Throw in extra flag for cross-server save file. Save files based on character ID or charactername*servername + job per slot. ID would be better in case name changes.

Remove the same amount of gil when you enter instead of having to have an item. Same difference.

Main reason they are probably not cross is the NPC interaction so they have to redo them to be queueable I guess.
