I agree with the "gamers have way too lofty expectations nowadays" part.
Lots of games are actually really good, but because the loud ones expected whatever crazy thing they could dream up, they are instantly branded as "disappointments".
That really bothers me, because it stops people from buying them even though they are absolutely fine.
When have we stopped just taking something, seeing how we like it and THEN judge instead of deciding if it will fail or not even before it's out because we already made up our mind that:
"if it does not have X or does not do Y which are things I expect it to have, then it's already decided it will suck".
That's so stupid..

Not agreeing with the whole "you can't be critical about it beforehand" thing though.
Some people get enjoyment out of debating and theorizing, some people love to know every little detail beforehand and do not mind if there are no surprises left.
There's nothing wrong with that, let them do it. If you don't enjoy it, just stay away from it^^

Most critiques come from genuine love. Few of us talking the time to post here want to see the game fail. That being said, we're entitled to our opinions and concerns just as you are yours. If I see the game moving in a direction I do not personally find appealing, I'll voice my concerns. You are under no obligation to agree nor do I expect everyone to feel the same way, but I find it a silly notion we should stay quiet and accept whatever the devs decide is best.

Actually, I find that more promising. I want more content to participate in, not to have funds allotted to another job we don't even need. Races are purely aesthetic and once again, I would much prefer adding to our current customization options than wasting resources on a new race entirely.

That remains to be seen. Stormblood has triple the budget, thus they will be spending it on something. Now it could be useless content like say, Blitzball. Still, I'll reserve judgment until we see it.

It's a false rumor which was never confirmed. Stop repeating it.
Some troll on gamefaqs created a trollpost and posted a link to SE investors relations site but these numbers are not in that link, in fact there was not a single word about Stormblood. The same post said there will be Viera race in 4.0.

And you know that from...where? SE has said absolutely nothing about their plans in regards to character customization.
It might be coming, it might be not. We as players know nothing about it (except that with the PS3 gone, it would definitely be prettier, because one of the reasons for low res on more detailed horns, hairstyle, etc. was the PS3's limited memory).

Unless I am mistaken XI (which so many like to compare to) did rather well with no races being introduced at all. Atleast from what I am able to look up as well one of the CoP had no additional jobs and WoG had two instead of three so just using XI as a basis this isn't new. As Bourne says as well this means more resources for the devs to put towards other parts of the expansion from story to character customization to those inventory expansions. Just as possiblities mind.

Very much reserve judgement as to my understanding this is still more rumor then anything else. At the least I have not seen anyone actually produce evidence beyond hearsay about hearing it from someone else.
