Memory lane : Player titles

With the achievement system poised to hit and official titles about to be appended to our character names (in what ever form they will take).

I thought I would take the opportunity to start up a little bit of a discussion on our favorite titles given by other games. I remember many times seeing some one with a cool title and asking what they had to do to get that. There was always this back and forth and sharing of viral information.

No game is off limits or to old, Just give the tittle the game it came from and why you really liked it. And If you want list one or two that you wanted to get but for some reason or another were never able to achieve just as a bit of extra credit.

Well i will start us off, as is traditional in these kind of situations.

My favorite title hails from xi, Never before in my life have two words summed up my play style and to some what my existence as a human being. When ever I would collect a new title I would invariably switch back to it. When ever any one who knew me /checked me. they would always chuckle and say, ya know Griss that title fits. It was of course Professional loafer.

As for one that i always wanted to get. Well that hails back to Diablo II. For those of you who never partook in battle net play every time you would beat the final boss you would gain a title based on the difficulty you were playing on. The people i most respected were the Hardcore players.

Hard core character had permadeath enabled, if your character was killed that was it, no do overs. With that said the title i most wanted to get but never could was King, That signified that you had beat the game on the hardest difficulty in hard core mode.


So there are my two, how about you guys? And to keep this from getting the not xiv related lockdown. What are some of your hopes for the tittle system in xiv?

My favorites from FFXI were "Taru-taru murder suspect", and "Frozen dead body". "S.O.B. Superhero" was pretty good too though..

Vampire hunter D minus, and lady killer were cool.

I think the one I was most proud of was "Hand of A'dal" from World of Warcraft. You had to do two epically long quest chains that could only be completed by clearing two endgame raids (Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep), getting a drop from a boss in a third (Battle of Mount Hyjal), and finishing the attunement to enter a fourth (Black Temple). It took the teamwork and dedication of a progression raiding guild to help their members get it. The quests for this title were made to be no longer obtainable at the end of the expansion they were introduced so they couldn't be steamrolled by raised level caps. The title is now a Feat Of Strength achievement (special achievements that are no longer available).

I also liked "Settler Of Aion" from Aion. It was a special title only granted to those who purchased the Collector's Edition.

I'd like to have a special title for being a Collector's Edition owner of FFXIV.

Which was the title that you got from San d'Oria 2-3? Wyrm Killer or something? That felt really great to get for the first time.

Tortoise Torturer was my favorite from my ffxi days

Good old FFXI for me i have 2 for laughs, one I never got but made me laugh when I saw it "Suspect of tarutaru murder" fave one I actually got "Lady Killer"

And heres one that made me feel good "Averter of the Apocolipse" and the old feeling of FINALLY CoP is over no more rage when ppl go on without you, or shouting for 7 days for the airship fight.
