New partylist chat numbers... why?

All this change is doing is cluttering up my chat list it is distracting and not helpful. I don't see how putting the partylist numbers before someone's name in the chat is useful, plus I don't see any way to disable it.

If there is a way can someone please let me know, if not SE please let us turn this feature off.

I was going to post a thread on this too, its too much, the description text for the menu items while using a controller is also just annoying as heck. Very distasteful. At least let us toggle that clutter off.

The menu help stuff you can disable, Character Config > UI > General > uncheck the help text with cross menu box

Oh, I thought I had just somehow never noticed the numbers before. I do find them useful but it should be a toggle option just like timestamps, surely? People on low resolution screens (or PS3, for now) get a lot of clutter in their chatboxes as it is.

(I suspect it's more useful for Japanese players as it takes a bit longer to read the player names than if they were written in Japanese and the numbers add efficiency, but that's just a guess; I'm fluent in English and when I'm in Japanese parties constantly switching languages between reading names and actual text does introduce a bit of brain lag.)

Maybe it is so you know which xXxSephirot xXx is being a bad boy in chat. Other than that, not sure why they would add it.

It's most likely there to make it easier to seee who is talking for those that have names shortened.

Maybe for Cross Server where it's possible to have up to all 8 party members witj exactly the same name. That way you know it's Garu 8 & not Garu 4 that told you to ram a Paissa up your bum, or something. XD

I suspect this is the actual reason, yeah. Would suck if you have initials on and accidentally boot the wrong B.D. or something just because there's a guy named Big D*** and Bob Dole both in your party and you didn't actually know which of them was trolling and which of them was being vote-kicked.
