There should be no etc. Character race, time-zone and gender should be all you need. This game is not a dating website. The marriage thread was not created to be a dating thread. The OP says that in her first posts. This is a video game and the thread's popularity doesn't mean "Players want to date!". No it means players want to EB.

Well the reason I posted this in general instead of a forum specific to a server is because not everyone looks at the server specific forums. But I did assume people would at least see if they can get along and spend some time together before going through with the marriage. I feel the marriage is more of a roleplay thing between you and someone who you would be spending most of the time playing together with but a lot of people like <name> seem to feel this is more 'serious' and should involve real life for whatever reason.

Let's just have fun and not take a game so seriously.

There should be no such thing as cat fishing unless people are taking the marriage way too seriously.

There should be no "hookup" system. More like a "EB n' Go" system. Just get your items and be on your way. Any relationship after that should be treated as a bonus. The video game was not made to encourage true dating. Dating sites are for that

I mean - do we really need ANOTHER system for something minor like EB? a system that most of us might need once or not at all? why waste ressources on that?

I am just stating that if someone really wanted a partner, what is stopping them from posting? There's no shame in posting because it's service that is in high demand, and it isn't like anyone is going to go after them with a pitchfork unless they're up to some suspicious things.

You don't even have to post on the thread. You can lurk and if someone catches your eye, send them Moogle Mail or /tell. If anything, I've seen more support than negative things from the thread.

In essence, you're saying everybody views the world, see's the world, and performs in it's splendors the same, exact way as you do. And when someone decides to do something different, they're branded Suspicious.

You can ignore the age part. That's just a random bit to entice those who do not like the idea. Such as yourself.

Tbh, Character race, time zone and gender should be fine. However don't you agree there should be a component that asks you this with a drop down box? "Gameplay: 1. "Forever Crafters!" "Let's do a dungeon run!" "We can Roleplay all day!" "I wan't to be friends." "Hardcore Raiding!" Etc. (Etc as I meant for it to mean whatever else of an idea you can think of. I do not literally mean an Etc. box to put in whatever you wan't).

Let me ask you this, if for whatever reason you wanted to use the Match making system, but you don't want an EB out of it. Wouldn't you want to be able to be matched up with someone who has the same desire as you? Or would you rather go through the headaches of being paired and splitting up more than necessary.





In all the system can be a mix of things, clearly the very few of you who decided to respond are getting the notions that this can be purely used for dating. (Given the rather blunt and short opening of my post) - Which is why, the idea shall grow no matter how negative the responses are.

As I said previously this is a system that can be used for fun. And it doesn't have to purely be an alternative step towards EB.

Why you may ask? Same reason as above, not everybody see's, live, and views the world as many of you do. And to ask someone to reform or assimilate into the culture you brought upon for others is out of the question.





In a gist, instead of such a system having to deal with EB, or having hook up status or anything of the sorts. Let's have it have a plethora of options rather it's looking for someone to raid with, craft, have adventures, RP, EB and so forth.


And I stress again, not everybody is interested in the way you'd want someone to make a friend. There are those who aren't interested in doing so with a group of friends, if so these players would being pushing towards the Free Company system. (As that's what it's for)

Tbh I don't think it's up to SE, and shouldn't be up to SE to help people make friends with such a system when the game already has soooo many systems. Make A Friend/Marriage Megathreads are products of the community. They do their jobs just fine. We don't really need an in-game system. Because human interaction is not a system. That's up to the people. The Eternal Bonding is the system. Which is why I'd be okay with an Eternal Bonding Matchup system for people who want the items and go.

In my opinion if you are trying to *just* have friends a player's gender shouldn't matter. That's what the Friend Megathread did right. It's a video game.

As for your question, I wouldn't have a problem finding people who are interested in similar things. It's an MMO. Everyone has my main interest! Next step? Join and FC and talk to people. Pretty simple.

I have to disagree with the way you're wording things. Taking it away? This is simply making a greater convenience built upon the concept of those threads and the feedback on this one.

It could essentially take it away because there will now be an in-game system to do exactly what the people created on their own. Making their system useless. When things like that happen(official systems being created) the unofficial systems created by the people die out.

Here's an example..

Gilgamesh is the unofficial Raiding server. It was named and created by the community. If SE somehow made an official raiding server and it wasn't Gilgamesh, the people will leave for the new official server and the community created by the players would die.

Same thing with Balmung, the unofficial RP server. The people created all of that. That's a good thing.

In all seriousness, I dunno how I feel about something like that. On one hand, maybe I'll find somebody who likes [my character] for who [he] is. On the other hand, I just can't find it in me to commit to a relationship in the cyber world. I need to be able to see the person, it's got to be real for me.

Then again, I've gotten attached to people's characters before, and it really hurt seeing them get along well with that special someone else. I had to constantly remind myself that it was just a game player having fun.
