    I did have another look, BTN is 229/230 with all nodes done (including ephemeral and folklore), all that I can see left are the ones marked 3***. Must have looked at the list 10 times, it is all checked off

    miner looks like it can be done without any 3*** (just). I am missing the final book, but it does look like if you gather everything except the 3*** you will just make 150.

    That's a big mistake/bug, a very wide gap in gearing requirements for each.

    This is a typical pattern though (craft as well), to make/gather the highest gear, you need the highest gear. Makes you wonder what the point is.

    Well it must be a bug because I am not able to gather at 3 Star nodes and yet I have that tool thanks to the achievement. Also it would be kinda unfair if you dont need them with the miner but have to gather them with the botanist. (IMO I find the fisher way worse than those two..seeing how much more fishes you need and how RNG it can be..with my luck I will have that one sometimes in 4.0 after the release of better tools)

Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

    Better tools won't help. As an example, consider your stats at 60 to your stats at 50. Are the ARR Big Fish any easier to catch? Nope ...

    Fishing older fishes will not help with better tools thats true, but you need certain numbers to even gather/catch something. In the end it was more of a little complain that thanks to RNG it might be a long time till I have that achievement, unlike the botanist and miner one. Well at least I always wanted to catch one of each fish, so it kinda goes hand in hand.

    Where's the fun in that?

    I mean the only thing I really spend gil on is blowing materia up. Full disclosure: I have even occasionally overmelded with Vs.
