I love the makai hand mortar, it's nice to finally have a real pistol.
But can you change the sheathed position for it to be on the hip? that tiny gun looks ridiculous holstered on my back.

Yeah I absolutely agree. And it feels weird to 'hide' it because your hip attachment goes away too and then magically appears when you pull out the pistol. I can't win!
Some NPCs have gun at the hip. Would prefer that and hide the display of both the toolbox and gauss barrel, not just for myself but for anyone who sees me. Appearance things only matter if other players can see them.
It was so small in my hands, but I agree I wish they could fix it so the animation was "better" sadly I don't think they will since its the base animation for the MCH weapon. But the animations for crafters are the PLD weapon animation and their tools are sometimes on our backs, the animation is glitchy sometimes but hey it might work?
I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.
I liked the pistol but thought the same thing. I doubt they will modify it just for 1 pc of gear though.
can't dissagree thou I'm using hide sheathed weapons for MCH (& PLD/WHM, but not MNK) but as it is the smallest gun ever in FF14 I just can't not use cause I've wanted a "handgun" size gun for MCH (cause to me waving a sawed-off shotgun or extended barreled Magnum like its a wand outa Harry Potter seamed wrist-breaking...). will gladly take hip-drawing action like Craft/Gather classes do for attacking, which is a PLD weapon draw, just for this gun
What some see as "distracted" is really "fathoming the unfathomable" - last words from an Ul'dahn Mercurial Chemister at the battle of Carteneau
If they can do it for crafting tools, they should be able to do it here.
