EU Server Status

Hi Everyone

I'm writing this on behalf of a friend who is in need.

He hasn't played the game in over a year, and is now looking to return to the game - what is the current status of the EU servers? Can anyone give me an overview - which is the most populated, least populated, most active, least active, stable, least stable etc etc.

If anyone can shed any light on the current state of the EU servers, I'd greatly appreciate any insight.

Thanks, I'm still curious though - the report you've shared just shows total number of players per server. However I'm not aware of what the maximum cap is per server, so I'm not sure which servers are actually saturated (with login queues etc). Any more general feedback / insight into the state of the servers would be welcomed - thanks!

Ragnarok and Moogle were the most populated last I looked. I mostly play on US though since the timezone of the players is better suited for me.

I don't think login queues will be a problem on any of them. I play a bit on Balmung - widely considered THE most populated server in the whole game - and while I occasionally see login queues there, they are never longer than few minutes and usually less than that.

You need to look at the "Realm Distribution (active)" part. That basically tells you which server has the most players ready to do endgame stuff (as the activity is determined based on them having completed somewhat recent lvl 60 content).
A few weeks ago another census was floating around, which determined activity based on general changes to the lodestone profile (as in, swapped gear, gained a level, earned an achievement or whatever) and while the general numbers were obviously higher with that (because it includes the below-60 players too), the server trend was the same:

Ragnarok leading slightly, being the most active of the EU servers,
followed fairly closely by Shiva, Odin and Cerberus,
with ALL EU servers being noticably higher populated than all of the smaller NA servers.

That said, we always had cross-server df and now also have cross-server pf, so really, no matter which server you or your friend are on,
it only matters in terms of how many people you see in your server's overworld and the prices/availability for crafts, mats, housing and the like.
Not a single server is over-saturated in terms of (actual, not the fake ones) login queues, only character creation is locked frequently for the higher-population servers (I haven't been able to create an alt on Ragnarok in the last 3 months at least, although I hear it's open to creation in the early morning for a short while when all the new bots and Gilsellers create their characters for the day.. ).

Another thing to note is that Moogle is the unofficial French server and Shiva the unofficial German server, so you might find many free companies, linkshells and parties limited to these languages on those servers.

The best server for international players are Odin and Cerberus.
