The issue is still here as well. DX9 is somewhat playable when lady luck is on my side, but it can still crash randomly. DX11 won't even launch. Some statement from the officials about this would be nice.

I have tried both DX11 and DX9 and currently I cant get past the loading screen. I was able to play a little after the patch but was kicked out in Idlyshire and haven't been able to get back in since.
Strange they say 8.1 is optimal to play on, (a lot of the people who I helped fix their problem probably wont respond that it worked, that's usually how helping people fix computer problems work)
Side note, uninstalling and completely deleting ALL files for ff14 (reason behind this is there are some folders that may be corrupted during patch installation) then reinstalling.. this would be a very temporary fix.
another side note, When I was working on this same problem but for windows 10 my computer also crashed on me and my harddrive went out (its a very very old harddrive) so I ended up doing a fresh wipe and reinstall of windows 10 (make sure to backup important folders like loved ones pictures onto a thumbdrive *its very easy to do*) re-installing windows actually purged my entire computer and I was able to actually see a lot of the icons and graphics on the LOG IN screen ( I wasn't able to before mostly because it runs from the internet explorer root and requires you to change a lot of the access options through ie (I didn't feel like doing it so I didn't) but it fixed it for me so that was plus. Long story short its really hard for me to pinpoint EXACTLY what is causing the issue for everyone because at the same time I did a full restore on my computer.
I did get an official response back from the team and at the time I had already fixed it so I mostly ignored the ticket I put in, I can try to find it and repost it here to see if that would help you?
Well, not sure how much it would help, but it's always nice to have an official statement on the subject, rather than hoping that it gets noticed, let alone fixed.
i just had this too today. out of the blue when logging off. first time it ever happened. even sonce 3.5 i never had this before. kinda worrying me cause also still there has been no statement to this thing thats clearly a bug which creeped in since 3.5 or one of the emergency maintenaces
Got the same problem.. Afaik this started happening since 3.5. Never had any troubles since 2.0.

I've still been periodically getting the DX11 errors here and there, a hotfix patch and emergency maintenance later. Far less frequently, but it's still happening.
It would be nice if someone on SE's end would acknowledge that this is still an issue and say they'll look into it.
I'm having a similar issue as well. I have been getting the following error message:
My game has been crashing randomly for a few months prior to 3.5, but Windows Event Viewer outputted similar error messages.
