MSQ I mostly agree to everyone's thoughts about the story, but the one part that really had me wondering..
I'm super curious as to why Tataru and her buddies did measurements on the WoL (our character) o.o

I assumed we are FINALLY getting an outfit sewn for us as well?
It's been such a constant complaint that she makes new outfits for all her friends but never for us! I think the devs may have finally given in to all our whining? X)

(Or I just WANT to believe that and they plan something entirely different..)

    Dun Scaith:

As with the other two raids in the series I found the place to be very atmospheric. I liked the boss fights too - Ferdiad was dealt with once and for all, as was Diabolos. I expected some sort of twisted love story between Diabolos and Scathach so it was an interesting twist for him to simply absorb her power to increase his own. It does make sense given the nature and history of Voidsent though.

I do wish we'd learned more about Mhach itself though. It's pretty tragic that Dun Scaith was meant to be a safe haven for the survivors of the big flood that brought Mhach to ruin.

I liked how the Sky Pirate storyline was wrapped up. It implies that we may work with the Redbills again at some point in the future and with Radlia having survived and expanded the Talons I could see the rivalry being another point of interest in the future.

Cait Sith surviving was pleasant too. It leaves her open to showing up again if there's Voidsent to be dealt with. I know a recent interview apparently confirmed that there may be 'more' to the raid series. I wonder if that simply refers to a new storyline in the future involving the characters we got to know or if there's something else tied to Mhach that we'll be dealing with.

Hmm... I think I need more time to digest everything but for now...

    Triad
While I am pretty sad to see him dead, I think they finally gave Regulos some justice as a character. I also didn't find it particularly out of character but my viewpoint might be colored from knowing stuff from the lore book about him. Regardless he walked a good middle ground with a solid sense of pragmatism.

I think its value mainly is that it sets up the potential for working with Garlemald in the future. Plus he did kind of go out like a boss. Honestly Zurvan was almost like a background feature that the real story was built around. A minor character who's purpose was mainly setting the stage for other character's development.

I don't think anyone on this forum was shocked by the Unikalhai stuff but its good he will stick around and how he is involved in the future will be curious. We allied with the Garleans and a Ascian effectively this patch. I wonder how far his loyalty to Elidibus will go in the end as I expect a conflict with that Ascian is inevitable in the long run.

    MSQ
Well a lot of the points so far were predicted but there was some stuff that was unexpected. The Griffin's tactics were very clever and almost certainly will spark a war, only more so with Omega being thrown into the mix. I didn't expect him to die. I kind of feel a bit unsatisfied with it cause Ilberd was such a jerk. I kind of wanted to see him brought down a peg before he died. I wonder how his lackies will tie into the story later on?

I felt Papalymo was likely going to die. Glad to have some solid explanation on why the ritual kills the caster. As sad as I am to see him die I will be extremely peeved if they bring him back. This makes me feel about 98% confident that the woman in the trailer was Yda. Why she specifically is important is something I think is still missing. Papalymo seemed to suggest it was something only she was capable of.

Funfact: I had a look of the edge of the Wall while doing the raid and spotted the Garlean building on the bridge from the Stormblood area screenshots. No mountains with holes in them though. Feel pretty sure Omega is going to blow a hole in Ala Mhigo now:P They have strongly suggested we don't have many options for taking down that primal without resorting to Omega. Looks like the 8 man raid will be us cleaning up our own mess this time round.

    Speculation for 3.55/Stormblood:
I think war is inevitable and the fight over control of Omega will fan it into a necessity. At this point I think we will start out trying to draw together the resistance groups while learning who we are fighting and discover what Zenos is up to. I think Varis will appear on the scene and we might even see the chance to come to an agreement with him. However I suspect Zenos will kill his father and blame us for it allowing him to justify resorting to some ridiculously crazy measure to take us out.

One interesting aspect in this will be the viewpoint of the Domans. They will be observers with a particular dislike of Garleans. How they view any attempt to negotiate with the Garleans will be interesting. I wonder if they will stay loyal friends in the long run. Alternately they might see the fact that in the long run they might have to accept a middle ground if they truly want their homeland back. You know, coming to understand that sometimes you have to go forward rather than pursuing the past.

On the flipside I think that we will deal with Zenos in 4.0 and 4.x will be us trying to stablise Ala Mhigo and get everyone to stop trying to kill each other. There will be a major power vacuum with the lose of Garlean rule and I doubt everyone will be in agreement on how to fill that gap.

The long reaching ramifications going into 5.0 I'm guessing will be the fallout from the death of the emperor and his heir. War of Succession time, this time perhaps without a clear claimant and the potential to send halg the world into turmoil. I expect 5.0 to be us allying with Moderate elements within Garlemald to try and claim the throne and keep the world from descending into chaos, which of course would be very fertile soil for the Ascians to sow potential Calamities.

I had expected Ilberd to be the Griffin. What I did not expect was how extreme his plan was. I see now why Elidibus said he was most worthy of inheriting Nidhogg's eyes, as Ilberd was just as deranged as the great wyrm. Now the question remains is what deity his blood sacrifice has wrought. Rhalgr? Griever? Shinryu? Watching it hang in the East Shroud sky like a greenish-white Dalamud is unsettling, though for some reason it isn't visible from elsewhere in the Black Shroud. Now we just wait for Omega to activate.....

Oh and as for Tataru, I think she's going to make an outfit for the Warrior of Light.

    Warring Triad

Regula's nobility was hinted before with some of his dialogue in "Fate of the Stars", and he made good points about primal sealing being ultimately a flawed solution. It became quickly apparent he was going to die to Zurvan, and sure enough he got struck down by the halberd.

Zurvan himself however was kind of underwhelming, especially compared to Alexander in the last patch or Diabolos in Dun Scaith. For being a personification of "Victory" and infinity, it didn't seem all that special. Overall, I think my favorite of the Triad is Sephirot, especially given the implicit connections to nature and white magic.

Unukalhai later confirmed the origin of the voidsent as detritus of the Thirteenth World. It is rather poignant given what happens in Dun Scaith, and when combined with Regula's dying speech, makes it seem like the primals are the true enemy rather than Garlemald.

    Dun Scaith

Not quite what I expected. Scathach, despite her colossal coffin, what ultimately a lithe gothic warrior woman. The fight against Diabolos was quite showdown, especially in contrast to the Cloud of Darkness. Only thing not explained was the meaning of the "Hollow" suffix.

His actions really emphasize what Unukalhai said about the Thirteenth World ultimately choosing a cycle of self-destruction as the Flood of Darkness approached. Though I wonder what led to that downward helix from the realms champions. Is it an inherently corrupted aspect of primals that leaked out of auracite, turning them predatory? Or was it something more cultural, as a result of Igeyohrm progressively tilting the balance extremely towards darkness?

Knew Diabolos would end up being the final boss. I was not expecting him to go DBZ on us with the "beam" struggle and then his fusion with Scathach though! For the run where we finally made it past Scathach it felt like Diabolos was somewhat easier...probably because a good couple of the mechanics were showcased in the previous fight. People had to learn to do those to make it past basically.

Cait Sith still being around is also wonderful, more so with everyone down in the dumps thinking we'd be losing yet another character after their "story" was done. Instead even if SE doesn't take advantage of them again we can atleast rest assured they are having adventures of their own out there.

    Hildibrand

It was okay, got a couple chuckles. Probably the best part was seeing Cyr's character development...though I'm pretty sure he'd be able to stay in Ishgard even if it would take some testimony from the WoL. But hey, he gets to live a free life in a gazebo so all is well! As for Gigi the Vivi we will almost certainly see him wake up in a sidequest come either 4.0 or 5.0. It MIGHT not involve Hildy if it happens in 4.0 but if it isn't till 5.0 Hildy will for sure be back for it.

    Scholasticate

I'll admit to not suspecting Lebrassoir as part of this, though honestly I should have realized after seeing Archombadin going off on him. It is nice to see that the two might be able to patch things up though. The true culprit of course was pretty easy to pin down before we even needed to start trying to piece it all together. All in all the Scholasticate was not the most exciting of side quests, but I believe they ended it pretty well and a new 4.0 sidequest storyline will benefit from what the devs have learned here.

    3.5 part 2 speculation!

Tataru will have her clothes ready for us. It'll either be considered the ugliest thing in the game or be so popular that thread complaining about people wearing the same glamours is gonna get more replies.

GC Alliance and Garlean both will end up going after Omega in an attempt to take out that new unknown primal. The Garleans of course will be trying to capture it for their own use similar to Gaius with Ultima, while the GCA would presumbably want to try and get the damn thing to disperse back to the aether after its contained. They may also think about trying to undo the barrier Papalymo put over it prior so we could deal with it (and honestly if that is true may have been the better idea), but Nero (rightfully maybe) calls them out for relying on us again to solve their problems. Using Omega could just as much trying to be self-sufficient as it is getting rid of the primal. As well I do think whatever the outcome here Nero IS trying to help take out the problem instead of trying to use it for his own gain...but we'll see what happens.

Personal biggest revelations, there are samurais and they come from Doma. Not really a spoiler, but it officially exists within the game...and I'm probably too late to the party and everyone already knew.

I wished it WASN'T Ilberd. Motives and modus and everything, I agree he fit perfectly to be Griffin though I'm still disappointed. But as Moose said there may be higher hands plotting around here, since he apparently got more than enough coin from a certain lalafell to sway that many people. I'm also bothered with Laurentius and Yuyuhase. If those two know that Ilberd was going to kill himself, that means Ilberd isn't a mastermind but simply another pawn. Whose pawn, however, is anybody's guess at the moment.

Can I say I kind of want to hug Laurentius? That boy seems to be so broken I just can't stand it .

    Warring Triad
Dissapointed. Zufran doesn't get much lore told in game other than he's an eikon, summoned by Meracydian we have to beat it blablabla. Even Unukalhai's journal didn't mention him! The only known thing about him is that he's apparently allied with Sophia, which kind of jarring for me. If we go with their original depictions in previous game, they're supposed to be fighting each other. But here, they seem to be all lovely trinity. Yeah... I don't buy that...

Maybe it's just me, but Regula's death doesn't strike me as anything impactful. All they did just killed off our potential Larsa whom we never really know from the beginning except for some tidbits. At least his last moments show us the person underneath as someone reasonable and caring to his men. Good enough.... Yeah... Maybe...

The focus here is about Unukalhai's origin, color me surprised. All I'm curious about is that he mentions that there were many like him, too young and gifted they were unable to stop the inevitable because of their circumstance. And while it seems he's now part of Scions, will he still answer to Elidibus? I don't know where his story is going but I doubt it will intersect with main story.

    Allied Beasts
Fangirls and boys, rejoice, for Nhaza'a Jaab IS BACK!

Didn't bother with the Garlean... He only lasts 3min anyway and his name's too funny to remember. But considering he managed to unearth the method to enslave not only dragons but practically any beings bothers me. What more the Garleans have discovered from the facility?

No comments for Tiamat cameo. I feel it an insult to include her in this segment. Maybe they'll add her for more serious business next time, so she can finally let go of her sorrow?

    Some thoughts:

    MSQ:
Our 'friend' Laurentius is gonna have some trauma issues over what he did, I think. I wonder if he'll get a redemption arc later on.
And is it too suspicious of me to think that Naago is shady? Her 'trustworthy' message ended up being just bait to set up Ilberd's plan.
