Kind of a nitpick but...

It seems a bit off to name the new Kirin bird equivalent "Phoenix" in English. In both Japanese and French respectively, the bird is referred to as "鳳凰" and "Hou-ou". It's off to me because we have an important primal and generic FF summon called Phoenix; which isn't the same as this bird. To me, it's almost like calling a fire spirit in the game an "ifrit"; while ifrits are indeed mythical creatures, there is that fact that Ifrit in itself in Final Fantasy continuity is a summon, and in XIV, a primal.

More importantly, the feng huang is literally in Chinese folklore, a type of bird that reigns over all other birds. Given that Doma is kind of an analogue for Asia in itself, wouldn't it have made more sense to name the bird Hou-ou or Feng Huang in English?

Granted, Kirin wasn't translated to Unicorn either.
Normally I'd say Phoenix is a close enough western analogue to use in English, but since Phoenix is already in, it might not work. We have to wait for the description of the mount to learn if it is related to Phoenix in some way. It might adress the issue. If it does not, you have my support.

AFAIK, T12's Phoenix in Japanese is labelled in katakana as "フェニックス". It's different to "鳳凰", so it's kind of a localisation goof in the sense they aren't the same.
