I just spent an hour carrying the worst level 60 party through dungeon finder I have ever come across. The BLM seemed to be casting spells at random. The WHM kept getting caught in tornados. Both dps were getting knocked off the platforms and not learning for past wipes.

My rotation for the final boss was savage blade riot blade clemency WHM who was continuously being tossed in tornados and clemency the dps the WHM didn't have time to heal. I never once saw a regen thrown out either.

And after it was all finished I got 0 commendations.

SMH why do people not know how to play at 60?

Assuming they were not inexperimented to the dungeon and caught up in the mechanics, It has not much to do with the character level but about the player motivation to play their class with at least a moderate efficiency.

There can also be another reason, they might have "easy-leveled" the classes they were playing with you, such as for example with Fates or Daily hunt marks, both who can kinda be completed by spamming random skills. And then decided to try that class in a dungeon

As for the commendations, sometimes it's kind of random, even more when it's with Full Party (8) where it's hard to decide who to give your commendation to unless someone particularily standed out.
I guess that's why Tanks especially and Healers to a less extent have it easier with it, because they naturally stands out with their respective role.

I entered a dungeon with 2 blm as dds and my first impression was: "nice, great aoe dps"
both only used ice III -> flare for the entire instance. Since they were french there wasnt even a point in trying to explain them something.
I dont know if they were bots, but bots have better rotations I guess xD

In the end that run took more than 40 minutes =.=

Blame PotD. My general rule of thumb when I see someone with a Kinna weapon these days is to immediately check their search info and gear. If I don't like it I'll see how the player performs during the dungeon and if it's really bad I'll start pointing out things to improve on. Most times there's no point in doing so though because with my experiences those players are convinced their method of playing is the most effective and that when you speak up about it you're talking nonsense.

Now, not getting any coms is not the end of the world (I stopped caring after getting the magitek mount), though it is nice to get some acknowledgement for your efforts. Like the other day, I had a newbie dragoon and white mage in Cutter's Cry during leveling roulette while I was playing paladin. I could see them struggle (which, to be fair, is understandable because this dungeon imo is the one where players get taught that mechanics aren't always the tank's job), so I slowly starting pointing what they could improve on and explained boss mechanics where needed. Walked away with 2 coms and a good feeling of helping newbies.

It's not all bad, it just depends on how you handle the situation. We only know your side of the story here, and I can almost taste the salt. Did you even speak up in a polite manner about how the dungeon was going?

Yeah that too, if you vented your frustration to the party, that might explain why they did not give you a commendation (assuming you were technically deserving it).

I mained paladin all through heavensward and thats when I got most of my 1300+ player comms.

Nobody likes crappy DPS either or advice from players who don't have it maxed out ( Not sure how people think they are experts and can judge if they don't even have it maxed ) so what is your point? Personally I like PLD specially those who are well geared, know their JOB. Those are players that deserve Commendations.

Reasons to give Commendations to players that make some sense;

Tanks that can gauge pulls, use cool downs properly and healer can keep up.

Healer who can keep up with tanks that can't gauge pulls or ignore their cool downs.

DPS who use Cool down properly, assist to make runs smoother.

Any role that is supportive by being pro active, giving advice IF needed, and help those who are struggling.

Some groups are so bad I immediately drop group as soon as I get the duty complete notification just in case someone tries to give me a commendation. maybe it's just me but I don't want a bad player's commendation in the first place. It's almost like an insult.


edit: Also, you're a tank. You get your own personal mount. What do healers get? zip. F*** commendation. Give me a unique mount and I could have total of zero comms for all I care. Lion/tiger/bear >>>>>>> generic parade chocobo

In any case not getting comms isn't the end of the world, tanks and healers get them the easiest. Dps only gets them if they really stand out or from players that only give theirs because they know dps really don't get many comms.
