And you both missed the point. The OP was saying how everyone looks the same when they play miqo'te and au ra, and the try harder thing was aimed at them. Like I said, I used the thav set because I liked the looks. If you like the looks, more power to you. But my post was squarely aimed at debunking the OP's point. I might have done it badly, but that was the intention.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
Whoa, whoa, easy. How about we look at my comment as a peaceful suggestion before you go caps on me, yeah? I only pointed out why people weren't seeing your point as clearly as you wanted them to. No need to start a fight over nothing. I wasn't saying your opinion or point wasn't valid. Only that your words had a bite to them, whether you admit it or not.
Woah there friendo
Let's calm it down
The very name of the topic refers to "generic glamours" not race. My choice of race is predicated on the same grounds as my choice of glamour. Its what I find aesthetically pleasing and any opinion to the contrary is irrelevant to me. I like the way my character looks. I would have likely been a hyur if they had more/better face options but they don't have a single one I found truly appealing. The Au Ra have some appeal but some of their aesthetics just didn't feel right for me. Elezen have strange body proportions to me. They're overly tall and slender with heads that seem a bit too small for their bodies. Lala's just aren't my taste and neither are Roes. The Miqote have 2 faces I find appealing, as well as a body shape and proportions that feel right to me. Ergo Miqote it is.And you both missed the point. The OP was saying how everyone looks the same when they play miqo'te and au ra, and the try harder thing was aimed at them. Like I said, I used the thav set because I liked the looks. Just like commonly used glamours, if you see many players choosing a specific race with specific face/hair combos that's does not mean those players have a lack of originality or creativity. It simply means SE has to add more variety in the faces and hair. Face especially since there's like only 4 to choose from. Were I a dev I would look at which faces and hairstyles were the most popular and investigate why. Once I determined the reason I would direct efforts into creating new faces and hairstyles that fall into a similar category of taste.
Choosing to look different for the sake of looking different is no virtue IMO. Especially if the result is you are denying yourself the options you truly find appealing due to some misguided concern over what other people look like. I choose what I think looks good for both my race/face/hair and my glamours. What anyone else does has no relevance to me and anyone else's opinions of my choices can burn in the bin with those pseudo-dress glamours that dominate the chest options for everyone.

We're on the same path here. Both of us chose what we wanted because we liked what we wanted. I chose the dark Au Ra because I wanted a Xaela and I felt the dark blue skin matched the Au Ra a lot better. I also dolled her up with lots of makeup because that was what I wanted. But the OP was hinting at, at least in my eyes, that because we used the same generic glamour, we were somehow content with looking the same. I'm going to concede to you on the point SE need to add in more personalisation options, but I think here we both feel the same way.

Fair enough then. We're on the same path here. Both of us chose what we wanted because we liked what we wanted. How many men am I involved with? Well that depends... do you mean men as in males? Or just midlanders?
Gotta say..I agree. But PLEASE, don't shoot me just yet lolol.Honestly, I do think it is a bit sad how the game gives us so much freedom of self-expression without having to worry about society's standards too much
(yes, yes, I know, burly roes are still not allowed to wear the maid outfit, but you can put on a skirt if you want to, so let's not delve into that topic too much),
and yet people mostly use that freedom to all wear the same anyways, as if their taste/imagination is so limited that only Ureaus Coat and Thavnair Dress qualify?
And if it is ONE of people's outfits, great! But when it is glamoured onto every. single. class. they. play...it just pains me to see so much potential wasted.
Like, you could have had 13 unique glamours, and within these, I'm sure there would be some that surprise and inspire me! But no, it's just Thavnair Dress all the way,
no matter if you are on healer or tank or melee or mage. And that's just flatout boring.
To put the OPs words in peaceful terms w/o stepping on anyones toes (thought it was just a general observation really) me will use the crayon arguement again. Ya give kids in a classroom each a box of 250 crayons...supersize and tell them to use em and draw whatever appeals to them! Personal expression go! Yet...when you come back an hour later....60% of the kids have used just 2 crayons....and of that 60%....90% drew the same subject. Did they follow the assignment? Yes. Did they express their personal creativity? Yes. Would the casual observer who walks by and gives nothing more than a surface glance be struck by the sheer diversity of each picture? Most likely not.
Think alot of people responding here are taking the OPs words as a personal attack upon individual preference. "I have a right to wear w/e I want, other peoples opinions be damned dammit!" Thats not the issue. Put simply, purely from an artistic standpoint:
...its just ...refreshing? to see variations, different flavors, styles, varieties etc. Creativity in full bloom.
Its an established no brainer fact that everyone has the right to express themselves as they choose, regardless of what other people think of it. Its just that when a great majority do the same thing (or overall identical with small differences) its..... *there are no right words here w/o me getting someone pissed off lol*
The game's called Final Fantasy. Means that for 2-3, 4-5, 10+ hours a day w/e amount of time ya play, ya get to stop being an everyday Al Bundy shoe salesmen and get to be a badass warrior, a stealthy ninja, or a sagely yet strangely alluring magician etc., something different from the norm. I think the OP and above one are simply asking when you have the luxury of really transforming yourself into something 'eyecatching' why just settle for something every other person is doing?
"Because thats just me and my style!!"
Okay *sigh* Me give up. To each, his own I guess lol.
Ona side note, me has always been a fan of oldschool jrpg knight armors (Lufia, Record of Lodoss War, Legend of Dragoon, Ronin Warriors etc) and really wish they'd lift restrictions on cross class glams so I can go beat up stuff with cool clanky armors on. The devs did a pretty bang up job with some of the new pvp gears (though I wish too they'd drop the skirt/dress armor, I ended up attaching one myself ironically)

Funny, you don't look like a pack of starburst blew up and dyed your gear all random colors
