Why are most players content with putting on generic glamour?

Half of my server rock the Uraeus coat glamour and the other half are the generic Miqote and au ra girls with the 'dancer girl' skimpy thavnarian outfits.

Don't you guys take a look at your character and think: "Gee I look like everyone else. Maybe I should try to farm for a drop so when I do glamour, at least I can appear more unique and not a copy/paste of everyone else."

But nope. People are perfectly happy making characters that look exactly like everyone else. I just don't get that.

People are happy to make their character look how they want them to look and not care about what anyone else is wearing. I'm not going to stop wearing my favorite clothes just because someone else is.

Well the simple fact is that most people don't like "unique"

If they did, then it wouldn't exactly be "unique" anymore

People wear what they want, glamour what they want. "Uniqueness" isn't always something that one cares about when it comes to that.

On one hand, yes, it gets old to see the same outfits on everyone.

On the other, depending on your personal aesthetic, there might not be that many appealing options. In the end I think players prioritize what they like best over what they think will be unique, especially it's hard to be truly unique unless you put together the fugliest ensemble you can.

Most drops you can farm aren't dyeable, and thus not well suited to glamour. Unless you really like that piece and want to build your glamour set around it.

The gear that wasn't added specifically as glamour is usually what looks "generic" to me. Things like the thavnarian outfits stand out because they're not the same long white coat/robe as everything else I can equip.

Well, I wouldn't mock any of those glamours as most require a crafter who has dedicated their time to get to the point that they can synth it. With that out of the way, many glams are what we have the easiest access to. Those who desire uniqueness will often find themselves in a dungeon/trial/raid etc. for the loot, or the mats to craft the item. It can be understandable why this alternative isn't too appealing to some.

Anywho, as has been stated, a player can make their character look however they want to. They are the ones that have to look at it every moment they are in the game so they should dress him or her in a way that is pleasing for them, even if it isn't for everyone else.

I can only speak for myself but personally I just pick looks I like. Uniqueness or no isn't really a major factor for me.

For a while, I wore the non-dyeable cashmere poncho because I thought it looked great on my lalafell. I never really cared who else wore them until I saw another lalafell not just wearing that poncho, but wore an overall outfit very similar to mine, who just happened to be named Bad Taste.

That was when I stopped wearing that poncho....
