Complete agree Slib - here's a few other suggestions I had from another post awhile ago. One of the biggest issues is how they award points, and how you can boost one guy up and basically can't even make the top spot unless you do, this should be addressed as well.
There's a lot that needs to change in order for anyone to take the rankings seriously:
1) Restrict queuing to a certain window every day, games will pop more and people can't ninja games on the side
2) There should be a ranking decay if you don't get X number of matches in a week to encourage people to keep queuing every week
3) Points gained/lost should not be based on your groups average rank but rather your teams highest player, otherwise you can boost one guy way up with alts. More points from each match should be allocated to the lower ranked team members to slowly even out over time if you swap someone out.
4) If you don't accept a queue that pops, that should count as a loss, no exceptions. Someone missed it because they're in the bathroom? Sucks, but sorry, completely your fault. This prevents queue dodging, if you queue up in ranked, you should be forced to play any team you get matched with.
5.) [OPTIONAL] Have a tournament at season end to determine final group rankings, use the rankings listed to determine tournament seeding and byes. You're more of a casual pvper and can't devote a day to a tournament?? No problem - ranked competitive team pvp probably isn't for you anyway. A tournament is the best way to determine final ranking... You can't avoid a team, you have all teams present at the same time, you build hype from the community, and you have people watching in spectator mode / along with streams. Also good luck hacking during a official tournament with everyone watching.
Until these changes get made the rankings mean literally nothing
