I go with holding each AF piece (or better yet, multiple pieces of the Artisan gear, each glamoured to a different AF appearance. I've duplicated several of the pieces for that, still working on others. Eventually I'll have 8 fully melded Artisan's Aprons, Mitts, Culottes, and Sandals, each glamoured for a different class. Once I get to 60, I'll do the same with Ironworks.)

They're affected by it worse than DoH/DoL are. With DoH/DoL it's just an extra cost and extra armory chest space to give each their own look. With DoW/DoM it's impossible without limiting your best gear to only one of the jobs that it's for. (The difference being that most good DoW/DoM gear uses the "Unique" tag that prevents getting multiple sets. DoH/DoL gear doesn't.)

But I agree, they should fix the glamour issues, so that it's possible to glamour each job differently. Simply removing the "Unique" tag would be a good start. That would at least make it possible albeit difficult (much as the DoH/DoL gear is now). But re-working the glamour system to either separate the gear from the appearance or allowing multiple appearances on a piece of gear would be better.

Most people don't have inventory to spare like that unless they have extra retainers. Which cost money. And if we need to spend money to do something like that.. I don't think that's a good system.

They don't take any inventory space, since they don't go in inventory. They go in the armory chest. And even there, your numbers are off. There are only five pieces to an AF set. (And at least with the level 50 sets, the hats are separate anyway, so we're really just talking about four of them, though I'm not sure if the level 60 sets work that way.)

I am keeping one extra piece for each of those four slots until I collect eight of the Artisan items. So, for instance, I don't have enough Artisan Aprons for all the classes yet, so I've got one with a generic glamour that I can use with any of the classes that don't have their own yet, as well as keeping the AF shirt for those classes. So for now, eight crafting classes use a total of nine shirts. The same goes for the pants, gloves, and shoes. That's a total of four extra armory chest slots spread across four categories. And even that space is only needed until I finish collecting all the Artisan gear. Then I'll be down to just the standard one set per class.

If we're going by armory chest space that's easy...

If we have a single piece of equipment per class/job you are left with a single free armory chest space in each category where you can't double up on them.
But, you'll also always have one of those items equipped, leaving 2 empty spots.

But, that doesn't leave you much room for other items...
And considering we're getting new jobs with the expansion, we'll need more armory chest space anyway.

Personally, I'm already pretty much always full on armory chest space and that's with shared equipment on my crafters...

I thought at first you meant the armoury chest, but then the next post you were going on about retainers and extra cost, so that part didn't really fit.

It is a lot of armory chest space (as well as a major expense) if you do it for all the classes. There's also the option, though, to do it just for a couple of your favorites. I was originally going to make a Leatherworker set, a Goldsmith set, and then a third generic set to use with the other six DoH classes, since LTW and GSM are my favorite DoH AF. But then I wasn't willing to entirely give up on the other six AF, so I kept them on hand in addition to the generically glamoured Artisan gear. Eventually I decided that since I was using the space anyway, I might as well try to collect enough Artisan gear to give each of them their own BiS set. Then it's just a trade between keeping the AF itself, or keeping a piece glamoured as the AF.

I do leave myself a couple extra chest slots by doing this only with the DoH gear and not DoL. I like the Forager's set well enough to leave it un-glamoured, and only keep one of it. Plus, as mentioned before, it's not even possible with combat jobs without gimping their stats, so those are going to share gear anyway. With a total of 13 jobs, 11 DoH/DoL classes, and 25 armoury chest slots per gear type, there would be just enough room to keep a complete set for each one of them. Having a few share gear leaves you a few extra slots for extra glamour pieces. Space is certainly a bit tighter than I'd like, but not so much that I'd give up on class specific gear the one place it's actually possible without gimping myself.
