I want the midlander top for my highlander. Please make it so.
I would have to agree with unlocking all the hempen styles, I had seen the elezen style hempen top and loved it. When I found out that it was the same top I already had but it looked completely different on my Miqo'te I was dismayed and feel that it was stupid to have made gear that changes depending on what race you you are.
According to you? Sorry I don't agree and I don't support an homogenized approach to the races. You're entitled to your view but I strongly recommend SE keep it the way it is and in fact I'd like to see more of it. I guess that is why some like myself create alts so they can enjoy multiple races that are actually different. Clothes, emotes, ears, tails, poses and more all make it special for many of us.

I wouldn't mind this change. Personally I don't find any of the Hempen sets particularly Culturally iconic. None really scream at me 'This top is just so (insert relevant race here)' except may be Highlander. :P I am all for more racially specific sets but only in the context of them conveying a sense of Cultural identity.
I rather keep hempen sets as is. Sure, they could be worn by anyone. Just like RSE could be worn by anyone, or anything can be given an excuse to make happen. But I like having more than 1 unique set of clothign for my char's race. But I guess people always want what they can't have.
Normally the RSE stuff is labeled as which race can equip it, where the hempen set is listed as all races can equip it. So it doesn't make sense that it would look different on each race. In my opinion there either need to open the hempen set styles up for all races to be able to equip or if they are meant to be RSE then they need to divide the hempen set up instead of clumping it together and listing it as all races can use it while making it look different for each race.I rather keep hempen sets as is. This is one of those things again where a part of me understands because even I myself have thought "hmm I'd really like to wear that elezen hempen camise body on my Miqote or Au Ra", but the other part of me is like..."but what is wrong with keeping some unique to race stuff? Do I really have to have it even if it means removing some more of the already low minority of unique to race gear?"
I think the questions I ask myself ends up with me leaning more towards I don't think I have to have them because I got a lot of other choices and I think it is better we can keep some race uniqueness (even tho I do like the other race sets quite a bit), but that is just how I felt about it when I thought about it in-depth and this is why:
Each race only has 1 full set of RSE: the starter gear (body, hands, legs, and feet) and then just two pieces of underwear (body and legs) that are unique to the race. So that is like....6 pieces of RSE per race in 4571 (according to XIVDB) pieces of equipment?
If you do the math...that is 0.1% of gear in the game is RSE (for that one race). So each race only has 0.1% gear that only their race/gender combination can wear. I can see a few people like the idea, but I just don't know if we should do it. Unique isn't really unique when everyone else can do everything you can do.
I don't have any issues with race specific equipment, as of currently the only equipment that is in the game that lists as RSE is the starting outfits for each race, nothing else is listed as RSE.
When I had seen the Elezen hempen top I had thought that it would look cute in a few other combinations. So I had check her to see what top she had used as glamor then went and bought it off the market board and had proceeded to use it as glamor on my gear. What I was expecting wasn't what I had got and j had thought I had hit another top I had by mistake and tried to glamor it again with the same result. That was when I had realized I already had a hempen top and for some stupid reason it looked different on each race, so I had wasted Gil and glamor's because the hempen top didn't say that it looked different on every race. So like I said if the hempen top was meant to be a RSE then they need to set it up that way so people know before they waste things for a look they can't have.
