I'm pretty sure plenty of people still enjoy the questline. Not every aspect of the game has to appeal to everyone universally.
I'd love more Hildibrand, but only if they can make it as good as 2.x (or better, of course)
3.x quests were... empty. It's not about being funny or not, they clearly didn't put much resources/dev time in the 3.x quests.
Actually, just put more resources in all quests.
Make less quests ; more resources for each quest.
Please make Hildebrande the entire MSQ in 4.0
In your opinion... But, not everyone likes the same things, the majority of people I know think the Hilde quests are fun, silly and amusing to some degree or another. It's rather nice to have some slapstick humor in the game to prevent it from taking itself too seriously.
But, since everyone has their own opinion; there will always be people who find no fun in something that others think is fun...and this is why they will not listen to you.
I thoroughly enjoyed Hildibrand in 2.0, but I'll echo others, it feels like 3.0 phoned it in with effort. In 2.0 a segment could last a fair while, and I was always grinning and laughing and it was generally fantastic. I liked how everything wove together nicely. 3.0 feels more like modern television. Its episodic, but there doesn't feel like a strong connection from one patch's quest addition to the next's. I love that Briardien got his own questline as well, but I think he really helped make Hildibrand great as well. Without him there, its just Hildy being stupid and no one really competent around to move the plot.
I'm hoping the Mithril Eye reporter will make a come back with Briardien in 4.0, cause otherwise, I don't think Hildibrand will live up to its original standards. Cyr isn't a bad character, but he feels very flat and two-dimensional at times.
Well the lack of resources is due to Hildibrand Series being pushed into 3.X era. Originally Season 2 was planned for 4.X era but due to how horribly Scholasticate Story failed to provide a little hearted story people wanted after the bitter sweet storyline of 3.0 SE had to try to fix that by pushing Hildibrand into 3.X since he was the easiest character to use for a little heart story. Scholasticate Storyline was originally meant to cover the entire 3.X story instead of Hildibrand as the "Hildibrand" of 3.X but of course they didn't provide a little hearted story from it and only added more bitter Ishgarding politics and more sad face moments instead.3.0 feels more like modern television. Hopefully the original Hildibrand Season 2 is porperly maintained for 4.X considering they now have to adjust some aspect of that storyline to fit 3.X Hildibrand storyline into it.

Please dont kill Hildi and his family... My opinion is, we should have more of him. More time invested/ quality on his questline/story as for me is one of the little hidden "pearls" of this game.
How about just not doing things you don't enjoy rather than advocating things that other people like being removed from the game because YOU don't like it? Just a thought.
I like Hildy, and his content from the last patch was a step-up from how it started. That said so long as we get atleast one new good long running side-quest storyline in 4.0 I could do without him.
THAT SAID...I do agree that removing trials from 3.x Hildy was part of the problem as those were some of the better parts of 2.x Hildy. Also no Gilgamesh. Course I would be fine with just having more Gilgamesh in general even without Hildy but he works good there.
