I may be wrong but I believe you needed to do the Hildibrand quests to access the Scholasticate quests. Even if that's not the case...players aren't going to understand who, exactly, Briarden is or at least appreciate him to his full extent without having done the Hildibrand quests to get to know him. So you don't really get the full experience without having invested in Hildibrand's story.

You do need to do Hildy to do the Scholasticate, and I will say the only reason I wanted more Scholasticate was because of Briarden's involvment. That said I don't think any future non-Hildy lengthy sidequest like them will be tied to Hildy for 4.0...though I could be wrong.

I really enjoy Hildibrand. Buut. I really want more subtle stories like Eddas story.

I'm ready to move on. You guys are missing out on potentially better side stories by forcing more Hildy.

A modest tear trickles from my eye everytime I hear that jazzy/shady Hildie music at the end of each ephisode, the sobering acknowledgement that we must part ways yet again with that sincerely warm-hearted man a few of us have come to know and love. OP..I've suffered your "Please gimp blm and brd in PvP" posts quietly...but this? ..and yes board Mod..I know you're watching me but...but....this.....

In a way, current Hildi is facing an issue similar to long CS. It's just like watching an episode of a show. Yes, there may be some point and click interaction but where is the content of substance like fighting Ultros or Gilgamesh? They put all their heart into the 2.0 story of Hildi that the 3.X version is missing the actual "content" that made it all fit together. In a way, the 3.x Hildibrand content would be no different if they just released them as 30 minute adventures on the main site and introduced voice acting. You would be getting the same experience, the only difference is your character wouldn't be there.

Honestly, thinking of it like that, think I rather see Hildibrand just become it's own goofy thing done outside the game that people can watch if they want something zany if their idea of Hildi content is just to have an on-rails story with no substantial battle content to it.
