Lag In Goblin?

For the past few weeks I've been playing FF14 just fine however the past 3-4 days I am lagging everywhere. Here is my traceroute:

What's going on?

A couple of those hops look pretty terrible. Looks like Level 3 and Ormuco are both employing pretty dire traffic shaping for the route that your connection takes, or they just have problems. Not a lot one can do about it, unfortunately, other than try a VPN.

So stuff like VPN4Games and SoftEther or just WTFast and PingZapper?

WTFast, PingZapper and Mudfish are the ones I hear mentioned most often in FFXIV circles. I think Mudfish can be cheaper, since apparently they charge for time used, instead of a monthly subscription. Could be wrong though, I thankfully haven't needed such services myself.

Well I'll try one of those. Sucks I gotta use a third-party tool just to play the dang game :/ That's actually horrible for a pay to play game.

Thing is, it's not SE's fault. Granted, they could try to put more pressure on the infrastructure operators, or move their datacenter to a different city, but in the end it's Level 3 and Ormuco who owns the equipment that slows things down.

Dang I can't just call them up and be like "Hey something is wrong!". RIP. Also too I tried all the VPN programs and nothing seems to solve the problem. Any other suggestions on the off chance?
