Hi! I won't to post as someone who is a) on Balmung and b) part of the problem. I own a small, personal house on Balmung that my IRL friend's fc left to me when they got a medium house. I've seen houses pop up from the demo timer on Balmung and I've seen apartments. However, the situation on Sarg is NOTHING like Balmung. If your pf is asking for 12 mil for a small, you're lucky as hell. The illegal housing sales on Balmung for a small is 40-60 million (I am not even joking) and we do not have any apartments. I gave up my apartment to a friend who didn't get one when I got my house since I didn't want to be a jerk and hold onto it when I now have a house. I will admit that I do think housing is a problem though. I see people on Balmung who hold onto houses and log in every 45 days to keep it when FCs can be using it...this includes alt FCs. I log in every day and use my house and have friends as tenants. But not everyone is that lucky. I don't have a real solution to offer either.

I think if SE could limit housing to one per account or make it so people who own housing can't buy apartments (this happened on Balmung where the majority of apartment owners have housing already), it could go a long way. Also, allocating resources for underpopulated servers who don't need as many houses to larger servers and adjusting as-needed. I don't think housing should be taken away entirely. But there are things that could limit it that SE just hasn't done for some reason. Maybe the removal of PS3 support will allow them to do more things though. Who knows. They first gotta fix Aether from crashing multiple times a day first anyways >.<

I’m just curious, how can you tell that OP got a house? Is it shown somewhere on their character page?

If you look up his FC on lodestone, you can see that the FC has housing.

There's currently three smalls (one in each district) and a medium up for sale on Exodus. Housing is REAL broken, alright.

And I say this even as I have been stalking the wards for weeks for a mansion. If you wait and watch, you'll find what you're looking for.
