More Details on FFXV Event - Siliconera

When asked about the possible collaboration with Final Fantasy XV, Final Fantasy XIV director and producer Naoki Yoshida responded by saying that FFXIV’s collaborations are literal collaborations. Yoshi-P says that they could simply throw in Noctis’ costume whenever, but he’d like to do more than just that.

“Commercially speaking, now that Final Fantasy XV released, it would be a good timing, but that’s not what I’m really thinking about right now,” said Yoshida. “Just like how Lightning’s [collaboration event] was incorporated as part of the Lightning saga, I don’t think it’d be as fun unless we have the four guys from Final Fantasy XV get lost in the middle of their trip and somehow find themselves in Eorzea. When the time comes, we’ll take it seriously.”

I suppose it's no surprise that they're doing more than just handing out a costume if Lightning's event is anything to go by, wouldn't mind the whole cross over just being in jokes and poking fun at both worlds Eorzea and Eos, like them coming across how much smaller the Adamantoise are here. Light Hearted adventures are always the best.

After playing it a bit, I hope they do some subtle stuff during the event like Gentiana randomly appearing in screenshots. Possibly some CLN quests to help Ignis figure out some new recipes.

Will it be linear just like XV? Will it be mostly cutscene and not letting us play like XV? I'm so salty from XV, I refused to finish it because that games' story pisses me off so much.

Why? It was a great game, I mean yes Versus would of been a better storyline line but XV story was good, though <.< wished SE let I be released late 2017, woulda been truly finished

The story was brilliant and had the potential to be one of the best in the franchise. Unfortunately so much of it happened off screen and areas that were clearly intended to be explorable were trimmed down significantly. Furthermore characters were introduced into the plot and then quickly forgotten about and never seen again.

I liked it and feel like I got my money's worth but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed by what could and should have been.

Linear? How so? Honestly curious. I mean, I'm only 75 hours in on Chapter 8, so I'm not seeing it...

All Final Fantasy games are linear to an extent, they were never Super Metroid, when you leave Midgar in VII for example you can't go and do what you want, you need to go from point A to point B to progress. I'm actually a little dissapointed that FFXV decided it'll hop on the open world bandwagon, always a red flag for me.

XV Collaboration : Flying car with 4 bros is stranded in Mor Dhona (because these things never happen outside of ARR areas). Jessie is there trying to sell Ironworks stuff to Rowena when bros enter shop. Jessie calls Cid to look at car, commence 4 fates in different zones where we hope to obtain new parts for car. 1 bro per fate. Finish it off with a big fate using 4 bros + Jessie riding a magitek vs. FFXV Adamantoise. Hand out a glamour that looks like a beer helmet with Cup Noodles on both sides and call it a day. Also, Prompto has to flirt with Jessie at some point

I don't think it was that linear, seemed pretty open to me. What exactly about the story pisses you off?

Move on to the story and see. The game is fine when you do your own thing.

Also, this games' story is linear to the point that it is unfinished! Only two writers mentioned in the credits, you should have a team of writers ><.
