Do you think they will change the name?

I have been thinking about this since the Class Reforms were released. The term "conjurer" (to me) always seems like either a) a summoner or b) an Elementalist. Now since CNJ isnt for sure a summoner, and even less of an Elementalist. Do you think in 2.0 that they should change the name of CNJ to something more fitting?

Just a thought. Just want to see what everyone thinks.

I think in 2.0 they are getting rid of THM, CNJ, ect and just replacing it with WHM, BLM, ect. Just /ranting

I really doubt that that is going to happen.

As for OP, I am. . . not sure. That is actually a good question. I thought the same as well.

Why would you doubt that? They dramatically changed the classes to be pretty much the SAME as their future job. The job black mage is THM spells plus a few. It's actually a pretty good observation considering the circumstances.

Fact: More Jobs will be released that stem from these classes. More classes will be released that have jobs that stem from this.

Logic: If they had any intention of throwing away current classes for traditional jobs only, they wouldn't bother with a system like the Job System and would have just renamed and redone the classes with this very reform we are about to get.

why would they go through the trouble of developing a branching job system if they are gonna nix the classes.

It is conjurer to us... If I remember right someone did mention that it is also druid in the German version?? It would take me far too long to go and find it... and the cat is oh so tired. So I guess it would depend on which version you look at?

Not sure if they will change it for 'us' English language people or not. I think Druid would actually translate nicely for the English vs. of CNJ (I don't know if it is Druid in German either). I know in french CNJ is translated as Elementalist...so they could use a change too. Still I don't see SE changing our name...seems a little more complicated than it's worth. Besides, White Mage is the first Job CNJ locks....maybe down the road CNJ will be needed to unlock a Job like Summoner or Spellweaver etc...who knows.

I'd be happy with the 'Druid' name change though since I think it's actually the better 'essence' name.

I hope that "Conjurer" unlocks SMN down the road, actually I just hope that SMN is released at all. xD. The big 4 jobs for me in XI was RDM, BLM, WHM, and SMN. (Even in PnP, I use mage/caster classes). I just think when 2.0 comes out and new people start playing. When they see Conjurer as a class they are going to think of what CNJ was. (Elementalist). I am not trying to start an "Oh noez, dont kill my CNJ!!!11" thread. I like that we are getting a full healing job, and after seeing my list of jobs in XI..I dont mind healing. I'm just throwing out my view on it. As long as they dont go DDO (Dungeons and Dragons Online) and call the class "Cleric." >.>
