If we are going to have a jump potion can we put Stone Sky Sea on steroids?

So I have mixed feelings about the Jump Potions. I don't want to rehash all of it but I am afraid of a large influx of poorly skilled players causing content to be dumbed down and lowering the bar for everyone.

However I ALREADY feel like there is a sizable chunk of poorly skilled players that do this.

So come Stormblood can we please PLEASE PLEASE have some method of filtering people out through skill and not simply item level.

Maybe some XI style Maat's Cap Fights?
    SSS clearance grades?
    Anything?!

Players already had low skill before the potions were invented. Content was already nerfed. Skip potions won't change that.

It's almost like that is the third line of my post.

    Almost.

Then what makes you think people can get good regardless?

Where did I say they would get good?

I said I want there to be a bar to pass.

Maybe a WoW proving grounds thing? Get silver or up to do Savage? Bronze to queue for Expert roulette?

Adding stuff like you mentioned into the game won't change players. They will simply do what they need to pass that barrier and then just go back to how they were, it won't change them if they have no real desire to make the change.

That is TOTALLY fine with me. If they don't change they can't do certain end game activities and I won't have some functionally brain dead black mage Elsa clone spamming blizzard 1 in expert/ex primal/ et.al

Could always make the 'skillcheck' reset like, once per week, or biweekly. That you have to do the skill check again to enter the 'hard' duties every week/2weeks/someperiodoftime.
Even if someone does not want to change, once you're used to doing something repeatedly, their habits will change somewhat.
They will also have to 'change' for that short period of time to get past the 'check', even if they'll be reverting later. If the check has to be done repeatedly, eventually they might not even 'go back' even if they wanted to.

The potions are being added as a convenience to those who want to buy it, Unless it's something that doesn't impact the buyer from playing the game, as your suggestion bars them from content, SE would not implement it. They have optional controls like hall of the novice and SSS. And they actually have a required control in ilvl requirements.

Obviously those controls won't make a player better but what your suggesting is counter intuitive to selling jump potions. This new era of consumer marketing favors the convenient, not the hardworking.
