Because there isnt one. You have to manually dismount to attack a target.

Oh, I see. I never thought that such a good game to see so primitive thing, hopefully they will fix this in the near future. Strangely, in conversations this option is enabled by default.

As much as I love this game, I have to admit it has routinely been lacking a lot of very basic MMORPG things since the beginning. It's bizarre, but it works. I think they were/are reluctant to make it too much like WoW because they want the primary focus of this game to be on presentation, not fast gameplay and other things.

Auto-dismounting to talk was in fact added well after the launch of the game. And until shortly before that, dismounting caused a tiny delay in being able to move again to make it feel more cinematic.

Not sure how much help it is, but pressing the weapon to manually draw/sheath your weapon will allow you to dismount as well. So, you could just get in the habit of pressing that before entering combat.

That reminds me. On controller, the sit button also dismounts in addition to the sheath weapon button.

There's a sit button? I use gamepad on PC myself and I've never seen a button just for sitting.

I checked button configuration for gamepad, and apparently Sit/Lock On isn't on by default though I thought it was. That's probably how you missed it. I'm still able to Draw Weapon by holding the Auto-run button and then pressing the Change Hotbar Set button.
