    Think the game will succeed?

i can't decide whether or not to start playing again, and now that i've played certain betas -cough- swtor -cough- I can realllllly see a difference.

I haven't really been paying attention to all the new updates or what has been going on with 2.0 since it was announced.

So from what you've been hearing, do you think the games going to drastically improve?

also now that the non-disclosure part of SWTOR for this weekend has been lifted. If you've played it, do you think FF will manage to compete with it?

edit: I'm also kinda skeptical about paying for an uncompleted beta.

*sees Bahamut motioning for me to come back to bed*
I have to go... Let's wait and see.

Oooh Bahamut says I can play.

Looking at it from your perspective, I would give this game a break for a while. Explore other avenues, see other games (open relationship style), let your soul refuel. Sometimes it takes stepping away to come back with a fresh perspective to possibly enjoy it more. And based on the announcement, I think that time will be the 2.0 trial period, so you would be able to determine if you want to invest more time playing FF14.

All games can succeed in one way or another, you can't guess ahead of time if it will or will not, much like the first gaming consoles were projected to be an utter failure because they seen no viable market in Video Gaming.

Since the game is improving with every update for the long run (that matters most) it can succeed and it may not succeed.

If they keep their promises with 2.0, they should succeed. For now, it is just going to be on and off with people in the 1.0 phase. While I don't believe 1.20 will be the patch that says to me "This game is worth paying for.", but I will anyways because I do enjoy the game to an extent and if it helps make the game better, then I don't mind putting in 14 a month.

Has the game improved upon release? Big time. Will the new class revamps make a difference? Judging by the notes themselves, it seems fair for now. I worry about classes still getting shunned out for cookie cutter setups, which has always been a fault of the game, both the fault of SE and the community. We won't be seeing any major content patches till 1.21, 1.20 is basically our patch for game mechanics, and Moogle fight will be the only new content.

As fun as Ifrit and Strongholds are, their lifespan of fun is meh. The first few weeks are good, and then you say to yourself, man I wish they release something new already. The current loot system is awful, and patched up in 1.20 to be slightly better. Where you get to open a chest, but if the weapon drops, it doesn't go to a loot list, it goes straight into your inventory. It isn't great if you get a cane when you are not even a mage and a mage does want it. They are improving it in 1.20 by putting a tradable with in loot table item you can stack up to buy your weapon instead of constantly fighting the primal for it.

Our battle class revamps are heavy changes and do seem for the better. It is helping our classes be more distinguished, which is the direction I wanted the game to go in, I am happy on those regards.

Even with 1.20, I will still have no doubt this game is not in a state where I feel I should be paying monthly, but 1.21 may change my mind. For now, I will say, if you still feel off and on about if you should come back. If you are a true FF fan and want to see the 7th Umbrel Era content towards 2.0? Yes, since the content won't be here anymore when 2.0 arrives. If you are simply looking for a fun MMO to play and going through the improvement process isn't your thing, wait for 2.0.

somebody said in another thread something relevant "numbered final fantasy games are a flagship of square, and they will do/pay whatever to make sure it don't fail",

will FF be as good as any other MMO on the market atm, not really a question i can answer, or any1 else for that matter, but i wouldn't discount loyalty the japanese have and for that reason alone i doubt it would fail.

i like the way its going and plan on staying with it, even tho i do like the look of the new starwars game
