Nah, it was just one guy that got upset when I brought how repetitive this forum can be with its posting styles.
Getting "heated" between anonymous strangers I'll never meet on the internet is not appealing to me at all.
Funny how you seem to know everyone on the forums well enough to pinpoint people as being 'upset', when they're likely not. Perhaps we should add "Forum Psychologist" onto your list of roles alongside "Forum Police".

I wish there was a generic option for the text. I've never been a big fan of trying to incorporate old ways of writing into current literature since when those old texts were current they were written in the contemporary style. When past writers were speaking of earlier events they didn't go into an even more ancient speak to talk about it (at least of things I have read). That's like archaic speech inception. I'm waiting now for when we go into another continent where people speak an even older form of our dialects in eorzea and we have beowulf text on our screens. I'd rather read text that was written and spoken to me not someone else that lived 300 years ago. It really breaks me from the game and I don't enjoy it as much because of it. There are some parts where it is enjoyable and fun in the text changes like with beast tribes but the general dialogue definitely falls flat there for me.
I wonder how anyone played past Final Fantasy titles that did the same exact thing as the dialects here. Obviously, those scripts in the past weren't as big or pronounced, but did anyone understand the dwarves exaggerated Scottish dialect in Final Fantasy IX? Those guys are basically pirate speak in a different flavor.
Personally I cannot play XIV in Japanese. The voices hardly ever sound like they match the characters and the text is a bit too straight forward and bland for my taste. I like that the EN localization team makes in a point to bring personality to the charters with things like dialect.
