Obviously these characters are vital to the MSQ and because of that it makes their dialogue extremely important. So its not a question about naming 10, 15, 20 characters, the problem is that the important dialogue has been translated far different and the fact that I use Japanese audio and had played with the UI in English the differences were astonishing. The certain manner in which these characters are written in English falls flat for me and so when my friends in game talk about having a difficult time with the dialogue in the story I can totally feel their disappointment. Key characters use that medieval speech and are written in this way and I just wonder is it really necessary? Of course this all subjective, if you like it then that's fine for you but I don't.

But the style of the dialogue the game uses and the changes made to characters in translation are really two separate issues. The archaic English is just a dialect of the language, and so there's no reason in the world that you couldn't use it and still have an accurate translation. The fact that the translation is poor is nothing to do with the dialect used and everything to do with the integrity of the translators and editors.

Not medieval. Medieval English would be far different. The English used in the game is at worst - even at its most archaic - some kind of faux-Elizabethan English. (Think Shakespeare with modernized spelling.)
Or in other words: (Early) Modern English, unlike the Old English or Middle English that were used in the medieval times.

It's always either cats, Balmungians, or Lalafell isn't it? Also, as many have stated before there is no original script. When you set the audio to Japanese, you are hearing the Japanese translated version of the English script, but it's also the other way around. All this talk of "not the original Japanese reeee" is very pointless and factually incorrect. Heck, I'm pretty sure the English is the original when it comes to some of the dragons and Ishgard scenes considering their language is developed by Koji and not the other way around. Its way more heavily skewed towards the JAPANESE being wrong than any other. But we can't have that in a JRPG can we?

Just speaking for the Heavensward storyline and Ishgard in full, the translation team/voice actors did an excelling job all the way around. No need to touch a single thing. The 'Old Engrish" style sets the tone of the realm perfectly.

Urianger is supposed to be barely understandable. Its a part of hid character; who he is. He spent so much of his life pouring over ancient texts his language became affected by it. If the rest of Eorzea speaks victorian english then he is meant to speak middle english.

Sometimes translators take way too much artistic freedom tbqh. Its unexplainable why Bahamut gear sets and summoner skills are translated as 'Dreadwyrm'. Or all these butchered titles like fine 'White Knight' which was translated as 'The Meat Shield'. 'Dark Knight' is 'Dark Driver', what the hell is going on?

I'll agree on the titles--that was a bit of poor localization. I hear that happens quite a bit on all sides, though, so don't demonize one without context of the others. Although Nestama has the right of it; those bits of content are largely handled by each localization team independent of one another to a greater degree than, say, the script. I recall Koji-Fox mentioning something simar to that in one of his posts here.

As for Dreadwyrm, if memory serves, that is a moniker explicitly given to the Primal Bahamut by the people of Eorzea. So when the Warrior of Light and their crew come across these ancient, ritualistic attires (as real world civilizations would create such attires based on animals important to their culture) what other name would they think to call them? Since Dreadwyrm pretty specifically refers to the Primal Bahamut, as well as the design of the armor sets in general, there really aren't many other options that come off as short and concise as "Dreadwyrm."

And for Summoners, Dreadwyrm Trance and Bahamut Trance have the exact same meaning, but technically speaking, we are channeling the power of the Primal Bahamut, NOT Bahamut himself. So it can be seen as more appropriate that we call it Dreadwyrm instead, as that implies we are drawing from the Primal in the image of Bahamut and not the direct descendant of Midgardsormr.

Well Bahamut is frequently referred to as the Dreadwyrm. It makes sense to name gear and an action behind a title of the Dreadwyrm, Bahamut (it also rolls off the tongue better and sounds cooler). When it comes to achievements, I feel all teams are given free reigns (especially with quest and FATE names, as names of FATES, Quests and Achievements do not affect the story/world in any way).

English: In For Garuda Awakening | Japanese: 'True Arashi God of Goda' (I'm guessing True wind God, Garuda?) | German: 'Gods Dawn - Garuda' | French: 'A Wind Of Panic'

It seems cheesy and poorly done to me. I wish i could get a true translation in subtitles and listen to japanese audio. My japanese is not good enough to play without at least having english subtitles, but the subtitles reflect the english spoken dialogs..
