    "Unable to complete version check"

Hi, I was playing yesterday (and for the last couple months without issue) when suddenly the game froze. I tried to log in again and I got this message:

"Unable to complete version check. [30605][20448][10009][10009]"

I've looked all over for a solution for this but I still can't get it to work.

    So far I've tried:
    PC restart,
    modem restart,
    verify integrity,
    full reinstall
    Antivirus/Firewall/Windows Defender settings
    Running directly from ffxivboot.exe

I've done everything short of formatting my hard drive, which I don't intend to do.

I'm at a loss at what may be my problem, any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Connect to a different network (phone hotspot works well) and login again. The launcher should work, and when you get the green login button you can close the launcher, go back to your regular network, and log in as normal.

For some reason, the patching systems sometimes will just outright refuse requests from particular external IP addresses. Connecting from a VPN, or a different network altogether will usually help with this.

    hi Seekified,

I tried this using my phone hotspot, no luck :/.

I'm wondering what the error codes [30605][20448][10009][10009] mean, as to try to tackle the particular problem the ffxiv boot is encountering, but I can't seem to get any information on them.

Bugger, that always worked for me. The other thing I see suggested a lot here and on Reddit for this type of error is to change the DNS in your network connection properties to 8.8.8.8 instead of using automatic DNS. If that doesn't work I think I'm out of tips, unfortunately.

I was already pointing to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 DNS, and wow, oddly enough, REMOVING those values did the trick.

I am now re-downloading all patches.

    Thanks for your help!
