Speak for yourself there, I gain no sense of achievement from hitting the limit on a number.

I gain achievement for large battles with bosses, or completing difficult missions / events.

When I hit cap I instantly think "THANK FUCK its over, now I can enjoy the game."

You're wrong, it's human nature to feel a greater sense of achievement for something that takes longer to achieve. You can't deny it. It's not like if you spend longer leveling up that you forsake the other aspects of the game, derp.

Oh look, I guess I'm not human. Which then leads to the question, what am I?

That's not true at all. I leveled Mnk, Rdm, Drg and Cor to 75 pre-Abyssea and my reaction each time was relief, not achievement. If there was some level of difficulty, my opinion may have been different. But like everything else in XI the challenge ended with finding other people with the proper jobs.

Actually, that's not entirely true. I felt a great sense of pride and achievement as I soloed my Drg to cap in the lolDrg days. Because it actually mattered how I played instead of spamming WSs or cures for three months.

Soooooo...what is that, if not a sense of achievement?

Honest question. Not an attempt at sarcasm.

That's funny because that's normally when I start losing interest in a mmo. For me the game is the grinding and lower level content (which I agree the game falls completely flat on) which isn't based around getting gear the best gear in the game. I was hoping for a game with a CoP setup for the entire game but I don't think they make them anymore.
