    hq items after .21

    is it true that after 1.21 all our hq +1 2 or 3's all will become hq? wondering if i should be making +1's now for this or if it's not true. i was to understand only possible +2 or 3's would become hq but now told even +1's. is there a link or something that explains this or a thread that is verified or if mods can verify this one please? don't want to use up all my hq mats right now to find out it's not true.

    also would like to know if they will be hq but dated? like yeah hq but can't materia them or anything? ty

    1.20 Merging of HQ tiers
    -NEW- Abolishment of the three HQ tiers

    thats from the latest letter....
    Looks like the HQ change is starting at 1.20.....
    but possibly the guaranteed HQ for all HQ mats will come at 1.21.
    Also in 1.21 looks like they will readjust gear so HQ means more than just a little extra defense or damage.

    If they were smart they'd make it to where when they consolidate the HQ tiers that the items take on the stats of a +3 item.

    If they're also adding a full set of artifact armor for jobs in 1.21, they should make this armor resoundingly better than anything crafted until a level cap raise and better gear is released.

    because of materia and forbiden melds having HQ items means nothing its all about the materia that maters. often times its cheaper and smarter to make/buy the lesser ranked gear and do forbiden melds on them then to buy the optimal BiS and go for forbiden. Something like felt hat green is BiS for CON pure healing but requires 3 felt, and the dye making the item cost 100k+ in raw mats alone. Trying to make a x3 forbiden meld gives you 1/50 odds give or take. 100k x 50 => 5M in just the hat add in the materia involved and its easily a 7-10M adventure.

    If you were to substitute a felt coif grey that cost you 1 felt and 1 cheap dye. 30k x50 => you save 2-3M in the process and you sacrafice 4MND from the green hat.

    My point is that the stats on HQ items mater very little and I could care less what they do with current +1 ~ +3 items, till they revamp the HQ stat boosts and/or the materia success rate it doesn't affect anyone in the slightest.

    According to the letter, 1.21 is when HQ items might actually have stat boosts aside from DMG or DEF. But for now, +1 items give a 2% boost to the success rate of melding materia. I haven't tested +2 or +3 items but I imagine they help boost success rate more as well. Course, whether 2% or 6% is significant is up to the player.

    so at 1.20 all my +1's will become HQ? as in every +1 will become best hq then right? and not get dated as well?

    I don't think there was any mention of making any other items dated other than the ones in 1.19.

    A few things

    1) we dont have anything concrete as to what each + is going to become, however, you can assume only +2/3 will be the new HQ at this time.

    2) its happening in 1.20, not 1.21, in 1.21 we get the "hq material becomes hq gear" deal

    3) the stats on your gear right now, regardless of what it is, will not be what the hq version of the gear will be in 1.20, its been stated they will have their own set of stats at that time, for all we know, it will be better then +3, or it could be worse, we dont know anything, but itl be somewhere around there probly.

    From the previous producers letter it looks like HQ mats = HQ product is 1.21 (if this is what you were referring to).

    According to what has been mentioned in previous dev posts, NQ and +1 items will be considered NQ, while +2 and +3 items will be considered HQ.
