Zantetsuken (spoilers)

So since zantetsuken is the primal and the body is just a thrall and any normal person who picks up zantetsuken becomes the new host that is Odin but people with the echo are immune to the effects of primal influence could we in theory use zantetsuken to slay an ascion and obsorb them much like thordian did just a thought

Interesting theory. I like it.

The thing is, I'm not sure Odin brands anyone when he uses adventurers as a host. I don't think any adventurers have survived being a host for us to really find out. My guess is the Warrior of Light -could- wield Zantetsuken without becoming the new vessel of Odin, but he/she would probably be fighting the will of the sword constantly, or would otherwise have to prove themselves to the sword to be worthy.

Well, we could wield it without issues. It tempers its wielder and when the wielder can't be tempered, it's a bit SOL, just as every primal. Chances are, at that point it would resort to tempering someone else to challenge you as its wielder or quietly make off with it when you aren't looking.

But Zantetsuken is literally the odd one out when it comes to primals, so...who knows?

I have been thinking about wielding Zantetsuken for this purpose for a long time. It IS a quite literal blade of aether after all. However Zojha is right that Z would probably behave like the One Ring and have everyone and their grandmother attack us to claim it. Not to mention it wold suck out the aether from the land wherever we go with it. Considering Zantetsuken has a very japanese sounding name, I'm sure that a future Othard expansion will shed some light on how the sword works. The Odin pet mentioned that Odin is rumored to have claimed the sword from an Au Ra. We know that this is not true as Odin IS the sword, but some grain of truth might be in the story.

Yeah.. it wouldn't be unsummoned but it would attempt to enthrall and empower those near you to make them take the sword from you.

I meen it's entry plausible at this point I think it would be an interesting story dinamic if it could be used that way anyway

I'm not sure Zantetsuken has all that much influence. There were several people hanging around it during the Odin Trial quests, and it chose only one to Temper (or, Sever, rather) - and given that we did not see this Tempering occur, that individual might have made the mistake of handling the sword unsupervised (in his defense, if I recall correctly it was during or after that incident that the characters in the questline began to speculate that the sword itself might be the Primal, so his tragic mistake might be forgivable). It could be that it is only able to affect those that touch it, so it may be perfectly safe for the WoL to wield without going all One Ring. I guess it could Temper the folks that the WoL cuts down with it, but fat lot of good that will do. XD

There may well once have been an Odin apart from the sword who took it from an Au Ra, just as described - and this person could have been a great enough warrior that Zantetsuken honors his memory by transforming its wielders to have Odin's appearance (or, at least his armor).

Or the Au Ra might have been a previous dark rider and was garbed in the "Odin" armor by Zantetsuken prior to the historical Odin defeating the Au Ra.

Odin is a mystery right now and many of the current clues point east for the answer.
I would not be surprised that when we reach the Doma area one of the questlines might deal with Zantetsuken and its black armored wielder Raiden.
