Or even the ability to paint whatever parts of the armor whatever color you want, but, that's in a totally different story.

I don't think so, and not sure I'd really want the option.

White Mages have the traditional white and red. Paladins have the white/cobalt gray, Black mages have darker shades like deep blues, purples and blacks.

I'd say leave the dying to class gear and keep the traditional colors for job gear.

I kinda feel like im being tugged between these to sides.
I don't want the traditional WHM look all the sudden black or something. But, I do want originality. :/

As mentioned, there could be multiple tiers and different color palates may be needed. In XI (dodges a stone), The AFv2 armor was an identical palate as the AFv1 armor was, just recolored and adjusted in some areas.

And I'd like my Chocobo to shoot lazers out of it's eyes, Lalafell to be a food item and my own personal airship full of gil.

There might be plans to have tiers of AF armor, and therefore want a "clean Palate" so to speak so they can just apply different yet similar colors to the newer sets when they are released in the very distant future.
