I was under the impression AF gear fell under job specific gear?I've confirmed with the dev. team that they won't be making it possible to dye job-specific equipment in the future. For some people, jobs and their equipment hold a special image in their minds and there might be those put off by the fact that the image can be altered by being able to dye them multiple colors. We want to maintain that special image by keeping the equipment uniform.
However, in the future, it might be possible to release different colored job-specific equipment as new items.

White Black Mages,
Black White Mages,
White Red Mages,
Red White Mages,
Black Red Mages,
Red Black Mages,
It makes so much sense.

I did, and remember playing as Green and Blue Mages, but perharps I might have missed official green outfits for Black Mages and vice-versa since I never finished the "Advance" ones ?
Anyway, I haven't read the thread entirely and won't, but I guess (and might be wrong) that you're a "anti-tradition complete freedom" guy who just used a FF tradition argument ?

I said it was assumptions (do not take it personal, pretty princess) since I'm still trying to understand your vague FFT thing that'd give sense to a black White Mage AF outfit and a white Black Mage AF outfit.
Even if there is, it won't change my personal opinion that it doesn't make much sense and that I don't care much (I'm just trying to add wood in the fire since those threads are entertaining to read while I wait for reports).

Because black mages always wore black clothes and still do? If I'm not mistaken, they always have worn blue clothes.
What gives off that a character is a certain job is the design of the item, not the color. Black Mages cast black magic with a straw pointy hat, white mages cast white magic with a robe with the hood up. The rest you can tell by the design of the armor. The one with the dark looking armor is obviously a dragoon. Oh the one with fur all over their outfit, obviously a warrior. Monk has that dangling thing hanging from their head. I mean I can go on, you get the point.
And to say that we need these COLORS to tell who is who, you won't need colors to decide that. You just need to know the persons name and what job they are. And especially in 2.0, we will have a symbol by our names that say what our job is in the party. I mean how much more do you need?
These are from FFT:

I had no problems distinguishing what I was fighting since the look remains the same. I was always under the impression that the iconic style of the outfit determines the job, not the specific color. I'd honestly rather be able to have color variations for a JSE set with each new JSE set released having an entirely different yet familiar look. The Black Mages/Waltzes from IX for example: http://www.ffcompendium.com/misc/9-allblackmages-o.jpg.
Though I'll admit that a few jobs have specific colors associated with them (mages mainly). Besides, not all Jobs have iconic colors or even specific styles. Look at MNK and NIN for instance. Changes every game they are in. Even DRG doesn't have a specific color (Green/Blue/Purple/Black/E-Body Blurple).
And like someone mentioned earlier, since we can't freely dye and redye gear till 2.0, probably not a good idea to have the option on JSE if it's not re-attainable.
