In a Famitsu Interview, Yoshida, when asked on the weapon Zenos held, said that "while the weapons he hold doesn't really relate to his character." He then told the interviewer to look closely at his artwork later and see if they can notice something from it.



Take a gander at the 'sheath'

Here is my theory: The three weapons are, Wakazashi, Tanto and of course the Nodachi. Take a look at the length of the sheathes.

What would be the purpose? You know how MNK is able to execute certain abilities based on what stance they are in? I believe that should this reasoning be true, that the Samurai can execute certain abilities based on what weapon is in hand.

As Yoshi would agree, this is all speculation and I have no grounds to prove this true but, it's certainly exciting wouldn't you agree?

Here's a crazy thought, Zenos will use certain abilities depending on his weapon when we fight him, and it has nothing to do with SAM.

No seriously I do not understand what your reply is supposed to mean.

Relating to his character possibly means that his personality isnt one related to a sword-wielder, Japanese media tends to give characters weapons based on their personalities. My personal thought, though it comes from a speculation thread, is that he might become a primal too, Yojinbo. It is speculation, but the way he is dressed does resemble Yojinbo's appearence, albiet in more garlean-esc fashion.

Yoshi mentioned in another interview that the weapon at his side is in fact a gunblade. It's probably a new type we haven't seen before.

Zenos is not a Samurai. He holds a gunblade. He is just a Garlean. Garleans using magitek in every form and taste. There is still a chance Samurai will not be introduced at all. Or it may be something that people didn't expect. A hybrid class named differently. I personally think Samurai is not fitting very in this Expansion's theme and lore. We are still not in the Far East yet. Even if Samurai comes half people will be disappointed because they expected it to be either Tank or DPS and he can be only one.

I do want Samurai but another part of me does actually want this also. Something new to the series/franchise that we haven't seen yet or some new take on what we have. For a while people wanted Time Mage and we got Astrologian which has an entire Time and Space magic vibe to it that worked pretty well (in my opinion).

That's why Samurai should be a healer. The only fair choice.
