I feel like clone is a poor word to use, because it insinuates that Hydaelyn is an exact copy of earth. However, Hydaelyn's landmass is vastly different from Earth's, and consists of far fewer continents. The core of the planet is a large, sentient Aether crystal. The universe is potentially infinite, and therefore it is entirely possible for there to be other stars and planets like ours. (Our Moon is actually visible during the day at times, btw, not only at night).

On top of that, there is nothing to imply that Hydaelyn is even in the same universe as Earth. Given that Hydaelyn itself is a living, sentient entity, complete with a physical plane and an aetherial one, the similarities in certain environments (churning mists and axys lla are still a part of Hydaelyn) aren't exactly far fetched.

Being serious though, even in your Star Gate picture, there's a regular desert complete with a pyramid. How is that not still an Earth clone? Just because there's two more moons, it's instantly unique? Eorzea has plenty of things that distinguish it from Earth, up to and including entire floating archipelagos. Like... What part of Earth are you living on that places like the Burning Wall, Azys Lla, the Aery, etc. are clones of reality?

Maybe instead of worrying so much over what's in the sky, you should take a sightseeing trip around Eorzea and discover the features on the ground a little more... They're far more unique and interesting than you're giving them credit for.

If you want a more fantasytic game thats unlike earth, I'm sure there are some out there. But besides all the practical reasons like physics etc. its also simply the choice of an artist. I'd wish people would see and consider that more often before they try to "change" this game into their version of something - far stretch, I know, but are you also standing infront of a painting by, lets say, Monet and ask "why isnt there another flower here?"

Wouldn't copying Stargate also be a lack of imagination? Why MUST the sky of another world look different than Earth? Plus, like others have said, we used to have 2 moons.
