Moon and another attributes of the real Earth. Why?

I wonder why the SE created the world of the game so looking like the Earth. Moon, Sun and so on. Of course it is not the Sun, but another star by the worm of which the life can exists, but still. Was it really hard to create the really unusual world, but not the COPY OF THE EARTH?

We need a "moon"? Ok, but create 2 or 3 moons. We need a "sun"? Make it different. Make really a different world. Why the copy of the Earth? Does the SE have the lack of imagination?

Do you remember the "Star gate"? Was it hard to create something like this?

Yeah, I personally want a strange looking world myself. My favorite maps are the un-earthlike ones like Azys Lla, Churning Mists or Mor Dhona when they have that unusual looking sky. I want more of that.

Realism and relatability are what make worlds believable.

World building is also not always that easy as popping another moon or sun on the sky. You'd want to know what kind of effects it would have on the environment for example. Did it ever cross your mind that maybe the human life we understand is only possible in the conditions we have on Earth? That's why most "fantasy" is still very Earth-like.

There's plenty of imagination used in Eorzea to make it different from Earth, the elements just don't break basic life support. You're in the wrong game and genre buddy.

They hardly cloned the Earth. Created a planet that is somewhat similar, yes. Far from a clone though. I mean, it is not like Earth have islands floating around in the sky.
There is also quite different animal and plant life than we have on Earth.

Keep in mind that making things too different will just scare off players, and making things different just to be different is almost never a good idea.
