    Best Way to Level 2 Classes

    Hi

    I'm back after a long hiatus. I have a level 44 Dragoon and I'm interested in leveling ninja. As you know I need to level 30 in Rogue and 15 in Puglist. What is the best way to do it?

    Till now I am level 9 Rogue. Should I get to 15 and then start Puglist and let my Puglist benefit from the 50% Bonus via the leveling of my Rogue?

    I dont know about the best way to level, but i do know if you are talking about the same character then your dragoon provides a 50% exp boost for rogue and pugilist.

    The armory bonus applies whenever you are leveling a Disciple of War/Magic class which is not your highest level DoW/DoM class. The XP bonus is 100% up to level 50, and 50% after that.
    It does not apply to XP rewards for quests or the daily roulette bonus, but it does apply to all monster kills as well as XP rewards for FATEs.

    Good ways of earning XP for a second (or third, fourth, etc.) class include:
    * Doing any quests you might not have done yet.
    * FInishing the hunt log for that class.
    * Daily roulettes
    * Making sure to do each guildhest at least once with that class - the first-time bonus is quite nice.
    * FATEs.
    * Palace of the Dead is also supposed to be useful for leveling, but I have no experience with that.
    * Levequests are generally best used for levelling Disciple of Hand/Land classes, but if you are not planning to use them for that anytime soon, they can also provide decent XP for battle classes. Grand Company levequests are preferrable - they provide company seals as well as XP.
    * Many of the challenges from the Challenge Log provide good XP.

    Thanks for that. So in class terms, how should I go about it. Should I activate the Puglist class now and continue to level my rogue?
    My character is level 44 Lancer/Dragoon, Level 15 Marauder and level 9 Rogue.

    It really doesn't matter in which order you level Pugilist and Rogue. Just pick one and level it up first. Or switch between them at regular intervals. Or level them in any other order you may feel like.

    What I meant was if I activate the Puglist now then continue to level the Rogue class will I level my Puglist class at the same time with the exp gained from the Rogue class?

    No, you need to be on that class to get EXP for that class. Everything you do on Rogue will exp your Rogue, everything you do on Pugilist will exp your pugilist. I recommend using Hunting logs and FATEs for quick subclass exp. Remember you will want to take your subclasses higher than the unlock requirements for cross-class abilities (check job guides to see what you'll need for your DRG and NIN)!

    Experience only goes to one class at a time. It's nearly always (and always for combat XP) the class you're playing at the time you receive it. Leveling multiple classes is really just alternating between leveling one of them and then another. It really doesn't matter which of the two requirements (ROG 30 or PUG 15) you reach first. They'll both be getting double XP on mob kills due to having Lancer/Dragoon at level 44, and that's in addition to any other XP bonuses you have active at the time (rested bonus, FC actions, food buffs, equipment bonuses...)

    The nearest thing I can think of to an advantage would be that once you level Pugilist to level 15 (or actually by level 12), you'll have access to four of its five cross-class skills. You could get used to using some of those (along with the lancer ones you already have) as you level up Rogue.

    In particular, Second Wind (from PUG 8) is a self heal that's really great when you're soloing with no healer around (and can be good for making your healer's task a little easier when in a group). And Internal Release (PUG 12) boosts your critical hit rate, which is a good thing for any damage dealer.

    Since most of Pugilist's cross-class skills are below the level you need to unlock NIN, and the other class it can draw cross-class skills from is Lancer, which you've already leveled, by the time you unlock Ninja, its only cross-class left that you won't have yet is Mantra. You'd need to get Pugilist all the way to 42 to unlock that one. (It's a long way from 15 to 42 just to unlock one more skill. I haven't gotten that one yet myself. But it's one that you'll probably want eventually, just to ensure you have your entire arsenal of skills available to work with.)
