Sorry I don't know if anyone has posted a section like this or if I'm posting this in the right place.

I am currently playing on the ps3 version and am looking at upgrading to the ps4 version, what I was wanting to know is when StormBlood is released is it going to just be an expansion to the current version of final fantasy 14 or if its a completely re-done game.
I believe when I upgrade to playing on the ps4 I have to buy a new copy of the game for the ps4, I'm just wanting to avoid spending more than I need to when the expansion comes out.

Oh I didn't know that, a friend of mine that had switched from playing on the ps3 to the ps4 had told me you had to buy a ps4 copy of the game.

They are ending support for the ps3 with Stormblood so they are allowing any ps3 users to upgrade to the ps4 for free.

Stormblood is an expansion by the way. It continues on from Heavensward.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: Stormblood is scheduled to release in early summer 2017, at which time we will be ending service for the PlayStation®3. In preparation for this, players will have the option of upgrading to the PlayStation®4 version starting Monday, October 17, 2016 until Sunday, December 31, 2017.....
For a limited time, players who own FINAL FANTASY XIV for the PlayStation®3 will have the option of upgrading to the PlayStation®4 version free of charge.
Moreover, players whose subscription has expired will also be granted fourteen days of free play starting from the day they upgrade to the PlayStation®4 version.

So anyone (besides the OP who said she will upgrade before that) just be sure to upgrade before December 31, 2017, because it might not be free afterward.

And if you manage to let you subscription expires at least one day before upgrading, you can get 14 free subscription days

Thank you all for all of the info its all been very helpful, I knew the ps3 version was ending and wanted to gather as much info before StormBlood came out. =D
