Shunning out those of an opposite opinion is not a good way to get discourse.

The only way your idea can work is for the FFXIV team to make the NieR characters natives to the world (thus making a cameo/cross-over event pointless) and have different personalities and motives, since there's no threat of humanity being extinct in Hydaelyn (to some extent).Except this is a game, there is no need to apply arbitrary limitations because "NieR's lore." To quote you from the other thread, "as the FF characters used in that game are not directly from the game they originally came from", you would be taking the NieR characters and inserting them into XIV EXACTLY like that. As long as they're not "directly" from the game they originally came from, it's all good right?
It just cannot work when you know the backstory to NieR.

I've made a thread on here before saying "who wants a tail toggle option for Miqo'tes and Au Ras" - an option which would be great for those who the tail clipping bothers them with many pieces of equipment and would be extremely easy solution for SE to implement - only to have replies saying to "fantasia into another race if you don't want a tail" (totally ignoring the fact it's only for certain pieces of gear that the clipping is REALLY bad on) or that they are "against" such an option as if it would bother them somehow. Why must everything meet some opposition, where opposition isn't even needed? Surely what should matter when it comes to fan suggestions is enough interest being shown for SE to implement it if they wish to, not how many people saying they're against it. If SE listens to people saying they're against things such as this when it doesn't impact them and lets that cancel out the interest of other fans then that would be disheartening, IMO.

And that is exactly what I would want, I don't see that as pointless.The only way your idea can work is for the FFXIV team to make the NieR characters natives to the world (thus making a cameo/cross-over event pointless) and have different personalities and motives, since there's no threat of humanity being extinct in Hydaelyn (to some extent).

I say pointless because you're not asking for a crossover at this point. You're just asking for NieR characters to be rewritten so they can work in FFXIV's world (and the way they're rewritten might not be to your liking), which... it can't work because of how Automata (and NieR's backstory) is.
Took a few minutes, but I finally re-found this in regards to cameos (from FF).
What I bolded is pretty much why A2, 2B and 9S (and any character from NieR) can never appear in FFXIV and even if they were 'rewritten' to work in XIV... well, you're not even asking for anything from NieR at this point.
- We will never introduce characters that would destroy their meaning or story
- We will not use characters that are already dead or whose role has ended in their title

Yep. I mean if cosmetic attire is all people REALLY want. Just be lame and plop a few outfits up on Mog Station. Yoko Taro universe just won't mesh well with FF. Less so with XIV.I say pointless because you're not asking for a crossover at this point. What I've worked out is that requesting colaboration events in general is pointless. Yoshi P said they take a year to a year and a half to develop, and by that point people would have forgotten Nier, and be clammoring for another event. Unless the dev team have already planned this one, I don't think it will happen.
This happens every single time a major SE game comes out... I remember the "where's the deus ex: mankind divided crossover?" threads
Contrary to this is comments on the FFXV event, though my theory on that is that it has already been in development for a long time, and the dev team are just waiting for the right moment to release it.

Ugh crossover events. Every time we get one I think of calling this game Final Phantasy Star Online XIV. Nier is fun so far. FFXIV is great. But let these games keep their own identity. It makes playing them so much more special in my opinion. I'd cringe at that fact that 2B could somehow make her way to Hydaelyn. Heck, why not let Aloy drop in and override 2B so they can help the WoL take down Griffith before he captures Casca.
Can't wait for the Person 5 crossover event requests in a few weeks. -___-;

Does every fairly new and popular game need a XIV collab nowadays?

I hate collab requests. Collabs should be relegated to final fantasy/final fantasy related games(i.e. kingdom hearts), outside company requests (i.e Garo), and special circumstances (i.e. Yokai and Dragon Quest). None of these can be controlled by the community, and I think that is fair. SE doesn't go out of their way to ask for collabs.Ugh crossover events.
