I said this in a previous thread about the umbrite step, so I guess I'll just repeat.

I think with them introducing the final chapter to the Mhach raids, we'll get a weekly quest that rewards umbrite, similar to the CT quest that rewards Aether Oil. A price drop may happen too but overall, I think that is one way they could relieve the stress for some players who are struggling with the umbrite step.

That and probably making each umbrite give 6 treated sand instead of 3. But that may be too much.

You needed 5 oils, you need 80 umbrites for the 240 part. It really does not compare. But I agree to the concept of making Umbrite more accessible, which is essentially the point of my thread.

I don't really do POTD, it's grindy and I don't like to grind. I went and did the first 10 floors anyway, didn't get any lore. Asked around in novice. Seems it scaled at level 60 from floors 10 to 40 at which point you get 60 per 10 floors. I assume if you do floors 1 to 100 you do get a bit of lore.

So yeah, if you like really simple content to burn something that's meant to keep you playing that little bit longer by working at it at a steady pace, yeah... 3 hours a day is not much to grind.

    (it's still a grind)

How about the fact the previous steps do not require nearly as much as lore or have alternate ways to complete?

    Stage 1: 170
    -farm FATES

    Stage 2: 200
    -Do 10 dungeons

    Stage 3: 210
    -Crafting or GC seals
-Lore or poetic (40*300 of either) total 12000 lore and/or poetics

    Stage 4: 230
-Weekly cooldown or 1800 lore (x5) total 9000

    Step 5: 240
-Crystal sands, take your pick (x80)
    -Lore (80*300) total 24000

    Step 6: 260
    -150 lore (x50) total 7500
(alternate quests daily for 1 or weekly for 10)

Eh. For me I like PotD because it allows me to progress on multiple goals at once rather than simply doing one goal at a time. I have 2 relics I still need to complete(PLD is my second one), and I'd like to get the Kinna weapons for the jobs I don't play much like MNK and BLM so I have alternates when I don't feel like playing my main jobs, so it's a good fit for me since I can progress on multiple jobs.

Previous steps were also a lot more grindy, like the I200 and I210 steps, so while they may not have cost as much lore equivalent, they were still massive walls.

Honestly, the only step I ever outright hated was the Atma/Animus step, though.

I suspect the Umbrites step will see a massive nerf come 3.5. My guestimate would be reducing the cost to 150 lore and the max amount of both Crystal Sand and Umbrites dropped to 40. Basically, the same thing they did with the ivl 210 step.

The only other "wall" I can see up there is if you have zero crafters and you have to do fates for the GC seals. A lot of people have 100 leves they're just sitting on and it's possible to the GC seals off those too.

And you have to be poor too. Because you can actually buy the crafted items for gil, on the market board.

Basically what you're telling me and everyone else here is: the 240 relic is fine, the other ones before are too hard?

You couldn't buy them with GC seals until they nerfed it.

While it's not much of a wall now, the current I240 relic step is nowhere near as much of a wall as the old I210 step had been, and as such, I really see no reason to Nerf it.

In my opinion, at least, the current I240 step is very reasonable.

I see your point about the state of the game before the nerf.

Did I tell you about that time I played in 1.0? The game was so bad it was free... They patched that too.

Actually nevermind. I made my point and I will leave it at that.

So I'm on the Umbrite step too and I'd love to see it nerfed. In order to not want to kill myself I resolved to farming 1-2 umbrites per day for however long it took to get there. At this pace it should take me about 2-3 months to finish the step, though I'm expecting a nerf to it come 3.5.

Honestly the problem I'm having with the entire anima chain is all the tomestone grinds. I don't remember the 2.x relic chain having anywhere NEAR this kind of tomestone requirement (and I went all the way to zeta). This is just tomestone grind after tomestone grind and it's BORING. Let me get umbrites some other way. Maybe I can grind FATEs for them... Maybe I can get them from treasure hunts... SOMETHING other than a tomestone grind please.

The nerfs I'd like to see are a reduced cost (to 150) and a daily quest that awards one umbrite per day. This maintains the step as a legitimate grind without it being soul crushing.
