Never let a bad PUG get you down
In regards to the thread I linked of my own, I've managed to play the game on DX11 in fullscreen without crashes. So it's basically DX9 windowed borderless, or DX11 fullscreen. My thread contains multiple other solutions collected from other threads, for people who have a persistent issue. They may help.
Nope. Still getting crashes. In regards to the thread I linked of my own, I've managed to play the game on DX11 in fullscreen without crashes. As someone else stated the crashes are sporadic. They can not happen for an entire day or happen 2-4 times within the same hour.
Yep, same here. Fullscreen DX11 eventually crashed for me, as I updated my thread with. Now resulting in playing only on DX9, because I have no other solutions.
I too am having this exact same issue.
it has no set circumstances it appears. It has happened in the following situations.
Character creation.
outside zones.
sanctuary.
airship travel.
Zooming in or out.
opening Hud menu elements.
also when adjusting graphics settings it can occur but again randomly.
even time frame is random it could be with in 1-5 mins or a good hour goes by.
it's completely random though and I have not been able to find a consistent method of reproducing the crash. and the error is exactly the same regardless of how it was triggered.
Ive done the various suggestions clean uninstall reinstall of video and sound drivers.
I even went as so far to ensure all other system drivers and even the bios was completely up to date.
System is win10 ent 64bit
64gb Ram
2x radeon r9 380s
8core amd cpu
corsair SDD
asus rog crosshair formula Z mobo
dxdiag status reports no issues present.
nor does ANY other title i play have issues.
have tried the both the current stable driver and the optional 17.x.x.
the only thing that actually makes any sense to me is this issue has blown up ever since the 3.5 patch went live. based on the many reports of DX11 issues returning with a vengeance.
My guess it it's not our systems at all but rather a nasty bug in the recent patch.
hoping the additional downtime aka hot fixes underway address this issue.
Having similar issues here as well. Crashes mainly in dungeons, but once whilst in a city. Bumped it down to DX9 and issues persisted. It wasn't until I took everything off high/max settings that the crashes stopped. I've currently got it set to Standard(desktop) on DX9 and it hasn't crashed at all so far. I can play everything else maxed out but not FFXIV. However this never happened until my new GFX card. I originally used a GTX580 which was fine on DX11, however once I upgraded to a GTX1070 I started getting these crashes =/
If it helps, this is my setup :-
Win10 Home x64
i7-2600k at 4.5GHz stable
16GB RAM
GTX1070
Samsung 850 evo 250GB SSD
2TB HDD
ROG Maximus IV Extreme
Do not use "borderless window" instead of "full screen". This option is crashing the game to(AMD R7200).
I had exactly same issues. Playing on MSI laptop with gtx 1070. Tried multiple solutions without any luck. Two days ago however Nvidia released new drivers 378.49 and for two days game havent crashed. Not yet sure if issue is copletly gone but i hope so. You can also try from your side if you are using gtx.
I had hoped the latest Nvidia drivers solved this since I use a 1070, however I then crashed just outside of Little Ala Mhigo. Again it completely froze my computer with a horrible repetitive buzzing sound.
