DEV REQUEST (again): The Emperor's New Shield

You may be in luck actually because during the panel talking about the Garo collaboration I do believe Yoshida mentioned there would indeed be an Emperor's New Shield implemented.

Really? I got thinking about this again because the vid for that event had no shield and I thought.... "Wouldn't it be nice if..."

I think this would be more trouble than its worth having to redesign animations so PLD doesnt look silly without a shield.

...People need to learn to take a "No" from the dev-team once in a while. They have explained several times that it isnt gonna happen and WHY it isnt gonna happen. You have small shield options you can glamour. Go on and dream, but realise that you might not dream the same dream the art/dev-team is dreaming.
Maybe I'm alone with this option but I consider a game a piece of art aswell and in this case they made it clear that its also a design-choice NOT to give us an invisible shield and we should respect that - they explained it, they said "no", stop crying and begging and let them have their "freedom of art".

Freedom of speech is the right to articulate one's opinions and ideas without fear of government retaliation or censorship, or societal sanction. not the ability to say whatever you want on a business' forum lol.

Well, I never forbid you to speak or censored anything you said? I just voiced my opinion aswell which is that we could let the devs be devs for once and dont ask again and again about stuff they already made a choice on and even explained this choice. Thats like asking your parents for a dog again and again after they explained to you they cant have one because your mom is allergic.

Couple pages old, but I'd like to provide the counterpoint of "What if people don't like the over exaggerated overswings of the greatsword animations, though?"

Because I want any class, DPS or Tank, that uses a European styled sword, without a shield, and isn't doing those ridiculous overswings that they use on the DRK's greatswords. It's silly to make the comparison.

I can actually see the aesthetic benefit in an invisible shield that deflects in the same way as they do currently. The shield is still there, just invisible. We have invisible everything else (except most weapons) which is classed as acceptable but an invisible shield is frowned upon. We are in a realm of magic & myth, it is actually strange that a magical invisible shield *doesn't* exist in the lore.
