Ok I'm posting this thread because I really think we need to put this in perspective. Why was FFXIV made was it to please the mainstream to get more subscribers or was it to evolve something even greater that was missed? There are many MMORPG coming out and exsisting since the release of everquest. Well we can all compare the things that FFXI took from everquest but my concern is more about where we could be going with FFXIV. Why does every MMORPG have to believe the only way to gain success is to clone World of Warcraft. FFXI had a style of its own and with the evolution and mistakes that EQ2 made you think they would of been familiar with the issues the game had. First we don't want to make a game that is far beyond stability, one of the great acomplishments of FFXI is that it was stable and had a unique engine. WoW nor Rift now gives huge graphical leaps its mostly based off of style. Because of the intense focus on graphics you exhausted yourselves beyond what made final fantasy XI so great. It had a social network that was deep made people go out and do quests not for exp but for cooperative gameplay and fame. There are no need for dungeons in my opinion cause people still raid at endgame not for exp but for items. The camp site experience method worked and forced people to get to know each other. Second the job system was unique in FFXI it didn't need a revamp on fatigue system really it took AD&D dual class and brought in a reason to stay on one character and keep leveling.
We could of used the ninja tank and red mage class back. FFXI had the most unique tanking ever with the ninja and then with the red mage being the most successful melee mage accompanied with strong enfeeble which gave it a slow killing factor but strategy and patience was needed to balance it. Why there wasn't a warrior who could perhaps been a 2H GAXE tank with maybe AOE abilities balanced under the paladin and ninja tank is a mystery to me. The lack of auction house and delivery effected the economy and the controls being design for console over the previous FFXI was a let down too. I prefered using my thumb on arrow keys to navigate and index to pinky on number pad to move it was different from other MMORPGs. Social trading of materials is needed if the economy is to succeed. We need those good ole macros from FFXI too that are intuitive and easy for healers to react fast and efficiently. As for a new race it should of been a male mithra. They could of made the female mithra more savy on magic enhancements with a fair amount of melee abilities and make the mithra male more melee savy. We didn't need another elvaan or galka race really who looked like another version of hume barbarian. Also notorius monster hunting was fun having a thf with treasure hunter which magic finding abilities is a good trait to keep that class interesting along controlling hate in a party. What happen to skill chains too that was perfect in keeping the slower pace non-button smashing style in perspective. There are plenty of other MMORPG that play and act the same we don't need recreated Final Fantasy MMORPG. We needed a reboot on FFXI if anything cause people stick to the game for years cause of the community and depth the game had. I know Square Enix has a trend of tryin new things on console version of FF series but being that EQ2 made huge leaps to be mainstream and pretty much failed from it should of been a lesson there to be learned. The only services I would of preferred added would of been customization after creating your character like most of these other MMORPG are doing. Like name changes to racial and sex changes to customization of redesigning your character, cause you invest so much time in a game you want to make choices and that is still a profitable way for these companies and is acceptable to the fan base. If you guys have any suggestions to post please do so we have to help in giving them expectations in order to evolve this game into something special and not something else.
