    No PS3 support? Does the mean fewer Loading Screens?

    Greetings,

    I'm not really sure if ps3 support will end completely for XIV but now that we know for sure Stormblood will be for Windows and PS4 does this mean we can stop all these loading screens in ARR? XIV could have more sense of flow if for example the starting areas were seamless just like in the original game. The 3 capital cities stopped having their gates connect seamlessly to the outside world when ARR launched and ever since its just been loading screens connecting these areas. Ill include pictures from all three capital cities showing these areas below. Whether this is important I'll leave it up to the rest of you guys.

    In case of the Objects on the Fields it went like this :

    You see a Rock, move 20 Meters.. It's the same Rock, you move again, oh its the same Rock again... Oh damn again?! ... Oh there it is again...

    1.0 was not on any Consoles, yet the Landscapes weren't nice either to an extend, it had flaws and lacked Detail, not to mention all the Copy & Paste.

    Now's the Question for you :

    Would you give up 1-2 Patches for that Feature above? They have to remodel every Map and connect them seamlessly given the Fact Weather has to be changed too and all different Features aswell.
    This is no task to be done in a matter of one or two Days, it would take Months to do so.

    Not all 1.0 is bad. The "gates connect seamlessly to the outside world" is actually a good idea and it makes the world feel big. The issue with 1.0 was the design of the world, not the structure of how it is connected to one zone to another. If you are just going to base it on videos you saw in YouTube then you will not get the OP's point. However I do think this will never happen. They will have to restructure the maps and it would take resources and time. If it is already working they won't do anything to it unless maybe a lot of players demand for it.

    I doubt it'd be 2 patches. But perhaps it'd be one patch. Although, all they'd have to do is use the new engines textures. The models are already made. In any case, I'd gladly see that. And by the way, that would be a patch of new content. It would not be an easy undertaking, but it would at least make the original areas feel big again like 3.0 and 4.0 areas.

    Those long hallways, the bridge, and the sections between zones were essentially masked loading screens, you could see a person disappear when they went beyond the zone wall. It had the same effect as a loading screen, and the hallways were actually longer than it takes me to zone in the current game lol.

    That's why between cities and the surrounding areas, we should be able to ride a chocobo. Or use aethernet to pop ourselves out like before.

    Some days I wish I could erase the existence on 1.x from everyone's memories so people would stop asking to have things back from a game that failed for a variety of reasons, most of which are ironically the things people ask to have back.

    Doubt it. It would probably take a lot of work and QA to redo all the zones and connect them together. I mean they haven't even added flying to ARR areas yet.

    It's not going to change - SE broke up regions into individual zones and separated them by loading screens because players were complaining about 1.0's large empty environments that repeated the same landforms over and over again and were filled with long expanses of nothing, it was the price that was paid for having large zones. So SE gave players what they wanted in ARR with much smaller though more highly detailed zones with transitions broken by loading screens.

    'PS3 limitations' had nothing to do with it (there are strong rumours that the actual PS3 version of 1.0 was actually complete and ready to go, but SE decided to abandon ever launching it due to the PC version's disastrous launch, and it became a moot point when the development team was changed, Yoshi took over and it was decided to replace 1.0 with ARR completely.).

    Whether that is true or not I have no idea, but the PS3 version had been planned to launch a mere six months after the PC version did in March 2011. So it would have had to have been at least at an advanced stage of development to have such a planned launch date).

    Either way, the abandonment of PS3 support for ARR will not suddenly make this game become Second Life with a FF skin, as much as certain players seem to want it to be.
